Dorothy "Maxine" Abbiatti
Dorothy “Maxine” Abbiatti - 81, Miller, died at 4:25 p.m. Sunday. Jan. 7, 2007, in St. Johns’ Springfield.
She was born April 1, 1925, in Carthage to Walker and Fern C. (Silman) Kirby. She was a retired clerk for the MFA Grocery Store in Miller, a member of the Benjamin-Elliot-Stockton American Legion Post 120 Auxiliary and was a member of the Miller Methodist Church.
She married Perry Franklin Abbiatti July 24, 1943, in Miller. He died Nov. 30, 1992 Survivors include one son, Ronnie Abbiatti, Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Charlotte Baldwin, Miller; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one half-sister, Helen Meyer, and one half-brother, Vernon Pogue.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller, with the Rev. Wally Baldwin and Micah Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in Miller Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Miller Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
Marjorie Adams
Marjorie Adams, 84, Aurora, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, in her home.
She was born Aug. 14, 1924, in Aurora to Horrace and Phoebe Ellingsworth Woods. She was a retired private nurse.
Survivors include three daughters, Ellen Caovette, Vero Beach, Fla., Pamela Handshy, Aurora, and Thana Lawson, Marionville; and one sister, Thana Myers, Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; one son, John Adams; three brothers, Harold, Clifford and Roy Woods; and one sister, Rebecca Stanback.
Graveside services were Tuesday, Dec. 30, in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, under direction of Peterson Funeral Chapel, Aurora.
Patricia A. Adams
Patricia A. Adams, 73, Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Cox South, Springfield. He was born Nov. 7, 1931, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Harvey and Myrtle (Parsons) Hoschar.
He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
In 1995 he and his wife, Ruth moved from Arizona to Mt. Vernon and later to Aurora, where they have lived since 2001.
He was preceded in death by four siblings and a granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Ruth (Fees); one son, Russell Hoschar, Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters, Tina Hogendobler, Macks Creek, and Tammy Caballero, Mesa; one stepson, Dwight Rinker, Mt. Vernon; two stepdaughters, Debby Stone, Mesa, and Karen Carl, Mt. Vernon; one brother, Carroll Hoschar, Atwater, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Simcox, Warren, Ohio, and Pearl Hill, Vine Grove, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, with the Rev. Ron Wingo officiating, at Meadors Funeral Home, Republic.
Dewey Lee Akin
Dewey Lee Akin, 83, Verona, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at his home. He was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Barry County to William Fred and Ina Cordelia Hancock Akin.
He was a cabinet maker and served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Aurora. In 1982, he created Rocky Top Blueberry Farm in Verona, which is still owned and operated by the family. He married Ida Jessilyn Young Jan. 2, 1949, in Monett. She survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Matt Akin, Verona; one daughter, Sandy Keith, Ozark; two sisters, Freddie Hemphill, Purdy, and June Severance, Long Beach, Calif.; five grandchildrfen; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Dean Akin, Herman Akin, Vester Akin, and Howard Akin; and one sister, Pauline Hartsell.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, with Deny Lemaster officiating. Burial will be in Purdy Cemetery, Purdy.

Louise F. Aldrich
Louise F. Aldrich, 82, Aurora, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, in Manor Care., Tulsa, Okla.
She was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Purdy to Fred and Leota (Hudson) Gautney. She graduated from high school in Sun Valley, Idaho, in 1942.
She married William Aldrich Nov. 12, 1944, in North Carolina. He died Aug. 21, 1998.
She was a retired bookkeeper for Charles White Motor Company and Anderson Motor Company, Aurora, and a member of the Aurora First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Gerry Johnson, Tulsa; two brothers, Jim Gautney, Cassville, and Jack Gautney, Roseburg, Ore.; one sister, Carol Wilson, Aurora; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
She was also preceded in death by three bothers, Loyal Dean, and J.D. and Bill Gautney.
Services were Thursday, May 3, in Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora, with the Rev. Melana Scruggs officiating. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery Aurora.

Joshua Lee Allen
Joshua Lee Allen, 23, Aurora, died at 9:37 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at St. John's, Springfield. He was born Jan. 21, 1987, in Turlock, Calif., to Robert Bruce Jr. and Madeline (Ramirez) Allen.
He was a 2006 graduate of Aurora High School. He worked for Tyson Foods and was in the Army National Guard.
Survivors include one daughter, Ashlyne Mott; his parents, Bob and Madeline Allen, Auorra; one sister, Mary Castro, Blythe, Calif.; one brother, Elbert Perez, Aurora; one half-sister, Jolita Bunch, Monett; paternal grandfather Robert Allen Sr., California; and step-grandfather Freddy Saranaria, Livermore, Calif. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother and maternal grandparents
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 29, at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.
Judy Forester Allen
Judy Ann Forester Allen, 62, Aurora, died at 11:02 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009, at St. John's, Springfield.
She was born June 8, 1946, in Aurora to Olie William and Margaret Louise Johnson Forester.
She was a former nursing home administrator and was a member of Marionville First Baptist Church.
Her father preceded her in death.
survivors include her companion, Kenny Shepard, Aurora; two sons, Christopher Lee Wilson, Aurora, and Jody Paul Lane, Springfield; her mother, Louise Forester, Aurora, a brother, Bill Forester, Marionville; and three grandsons.
Services were Tuesday, April 14, in Williams Funeral Chapel, Marionville. Burial was in Marionville IOOF Cemetery.

Marjorie J. (Abrams) Allen, 74 Aurora, formerly of Pierce City, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in her home.
She was born in Placerville, Calif., Feb. 3, 1935, to Henry and Bertha (Nauta) Abrams.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Wilson, Roseville, Calif., and Shirley Carlile, Rackerby, Calif.; two sons, Charles L. Jones, Yuba City, Calif., and Shane Allen, Aurora; two sisters, Betty Tunnell, Pierce City, and Gloria Hollwell, Jupiter, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Tuesday, April 7, in the Pirece City Cemetery, with the Rev. Dick Palmer officiating, under direction of Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City.
J.W. "Andy" Anderson
J.W. “Andy” Anderson - 79, Carl Junction, formerly of Mt. Vernon, died at 10:08 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, after a long illness. He was born Feb. 21, 1928 in Galena to Ernest and Ethel Williams Anderson. He graduated from Galena High School. He was a truck driver and a member of the Galena Lodge #515 AF & AM.
He married Mary L. Snyder Monroe May 2, 1974, in Miami, Okla. She survives.
Additional survivors include four daughters, Nancy Swager, Grove, Okla., Barbara Vowiell, Carl Junction, Laquita Branstetter, Joplin, and Diane Anderson, Arkansas, nine grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren.
Services were Thursday, March 1, at Parker Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Clair Uitts officiating. Burial was in Carl Junction Cemetery.
Carol Gail Armstrong
Carol Gail Armstrong, 67, Miller, passed away at 12:35 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009. She was born on April 14, 1942, in Bridgeton, N.J. to Paul W. and Helen Ida (Firus) Wolfe.
She was an employee with the Oxford Home Care, was an ordained pastor and a member of the Freedom Christian Center.
On Sept. 22, 1973, she married Lowell Armstrong in Vineland, N.J. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include four daughters, Christine Caldiero and Susie Bingham, both of Ash Grove, Lisa Palmer of West Plains and Ruth Phillips of Republic; one son, John Caregnato of Ash Grove; 12 grandkids, Dominic, Nicole, Anthony, Shawn, Zacary, Joshua, Johnny, Michelle, Nailmah, Malik, Naomi and Daniel; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul J. Wolfe, Vineland. Her parents preceded her in death.
Services, under direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, in the Freedom Christian Center, Aurora.

Ryan Adam "Catfish" Arnold
Ryan Adam "Catfish" Arnold, 27, Aurora, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at his home.
He was born Jan. 15, 1982, in Columbia to Kelly and Holly (Vermillion) Arnold.
He married Viosha Doane April 16, 2001, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She survives.
They moved to Aurora in March 2007. He worked for Efco Corporation, Monett, as an environmental specialist and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cincinnati.
Additional survivors include his children, Kiley and Derek; parents Kelly and Holly Arnold, Cabool; one brother, Jamie Arnold, Springfield; and maternal grandmother Martha Vermillion, Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, W.R. "Dick" Vermillion, and paternal grandparents, Jim and Bev Arnold.
Graveside services were Friday, Aug. 14, at Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

Robert Deckar Arnsmeyer
Robert Deckar Arnsmeyer - 84, Aurora, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at St. John’s, Springfield.
He was born May 30, 1922, in Marionville to Edward and Martha (Johnson) Arnsmeyer.
He was a graduate of Hemet High School in Hemet, CA and worked as a carpenter. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Caroline Hendershot, and five brothers, Edward, Ronald, William, Blain and Roy Arnsmeyer.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Billy Jo Fieker, Aurora.
Graveside services were Wednesday, Jan. 3, in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery, Springfield, with the Rev. Ed Edwards officiating, under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.
Robert E. Aseltine
Robert E. Aseltine - 63, Ash Grove, was called to his heavenly home suddenly on Friday, Feb. 16, 2007.Robert was born on Nov. 6, 1943, in Lansing, Mich., to Carl and Della Aseltine. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Music in 1967 and spent most of his life involved in church music as organist and choir director. Robert served in the U.S. Army as a chaplain assistant from 1967 - 1970.
Surviving him is his twin sister, Roberta Ernst and her husband, David, LaQuinta, Calif.; niece, Connie Shapter; nephew, Christopher Ernst; great-nieces and great-nephews, David and Brooke Shapter, Jacob and Zachary Ernst and lifelong friends, Mary Lou Lohr and Leighann Suurmeyer, Ash Grove. His parents and one sister, Barbara Jean Aseltine, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans’ Cemetery in Springfield.
Harry Wayne Atkisson
Harry Wayne Atkisson, 60, Marionville, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, in St. John's, Springfield.
He was born Sept. 17, 1947, in Licking to Herbert and Helen Perkins Atkisson. He married Carol Umholtz Dec. 14, 1968, in Momence, Ill. He worked for MWM Dexter in Aurora in the janitorial maintenance department.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are five daughters and one son, Tina Julien, Springfield, Karrie Neill, Redlands, Calif., Wanda Gibson, Marionville, Melinda Mills, Springfield, and twins Renae Hopper and Richard W. Atkisson, both of Marionville; two sisters, Geraldine Bates, Yukon, Mo., and Karen Duhart, Tulsa, Okla.; four brothers, Gene, Eddie and Ronnie Atkisson, Raymondville, and Robert House, West Plains; and 15 grandchildren.
His parents and one brother, Bill Atkisson, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora, with the Rev. Rusty Sheilds officiating. Burial will be in Osa Cemetery.
Mabel Atnip
Mabel Atnip, 93, Aurora, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, in the Aurora Nursing Center.
She was born May 9, 1916, in Stone County to Marion and Belle Carter Holt. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, J.O. Smith, South Greenfield, Kirby Smith, Auora, Jerry Atnip, Seligman, Ariz., and David Atnip, Cassville; one daughter, Betty Raley, Aurora; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shurel.
Services were Tuesday, Aug. 18, in the Faith Full Gospel Church. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery;, Aurora, under direction of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
Lugene Isla Atwell
Lugene Isla Atwell, 86, Monett, died at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Lawrence County Manor, Mt. Vernon.
She was born Dec. 19, 1922, in Monett to William Aubra and Pearl (Walton) Lassiter. She was a homemaker and was named Miss Ozark Smile Girl of 1939.
She married C.E. Atwell. He died Sept. 18, 2008.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Sims, and one son, Sam Atwell, both of Monett; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, RosaLee Stormzand, and one brother,Arthur Lassiter.
Services were Friday, March 13, at Lakin Funeral Home. Pierce City, Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery, Monett.
Herbert Lee Ayers
Herbert Lee Ayers, 84, Aurora, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, in his home. He was born June 23, 1925, in Boone, Ark., to John and Nora (Payne) Ayers.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and a retired carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, and one son, Freddy Ray Ayers.
Survivors include four sons, Claude Ayers, Forsyth, Ted Ayers, Verona, Herbert D. Ayers, Green Forest, Ark., and Carlos Ayers, Lampe; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were Thursday, Sept. 10, in Manlove-Stumpff Chapel, Crane, with Joe Wolven officiating. Burial was in Yocum Pond Cemetery, Reeds Spring.

Abbigail Kylie Rose Baker, infant daughter of Amanda Baker and the late William Richardson, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
Survivors include her mother, Amanda Baker, Stotts City, three brothers, Gavin and Peyton Pickel, Harrison, Ark., and Jayden Baker, Stotts City; maternal grandparents, Judy Baker, Stotts City, and Tommy Baker, Springfield; paternal grandparents, Dixie and Chuck Thomas, Mt. Vernon, and maternal great-grandmother, Lois Addison, Stotts City.
Memorial services were Tuesday, March 6, in the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.
Keith Baker
Keith Baker, 90, Pierce City, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Missouri Veterans' Home/Mt. Vernon.
He was born Sept. 26, 1918, in Sarcoxie to George and Catha (Woffard) Baker.
He was a retired farmer and veteran of World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4207 in Monett.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lelah Helen Baker, in 1992.
Survivors include two daughters, Ella Kay Balmas, Monett, and Gina Lynn Debes, Pierce City; four grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Wednesday, April 15, in Oakdale Cemetery, Monett, under direction of Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City.
Loretta Jeanne Baker
Loretta Jeanne Baker - 69, Miller, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at Cox South, Springfield.
She was born Sept. 24, 1937, to Wilbur and Velma D. Sparks Brown.
She married Harley Baker Dec. 25, 1955. He Survives.
Survivors include two sons, Curtis Baker, Lebanon, and Michael Baker, Assaria, Kan.; her mother, Velma, one sister, Leora Taylor, Palmyra; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and one grandson.

Lesa Baldwin, 48, Ash Grove, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 in her home.
She was born July 20, 1961, in Aurora. She owned Rumours Hair Salon in Ash Grove.
Survivors include one son, Shawn Michael Alcorn; her mother, Emma Glenn; one brother, James Baldwin; and one sister, Tena Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Leon Baldwin; one brother, Tony Baldwin; and her step-father, Bill Glenn.
Graveside serviceswill be at 2 p.m. Wednesday,Dec.16, in Klingner-Cope Family Family Funeral Home at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield. Visitation will be from 12:30to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Hazel Mary Reese Ball
Hazel Mary Reese Ball - 93, Mountain View, died Friday, March 30, 2007.
She was born Jan. 26, 1914, near Teresita to George Elijah and Myrtle Elizabeth Culpepper Reese.
She lived most of her life in the Mountain View area. She married James Ellis Ball at Bunker, Jan. 19, 1936. He died in 1971.
She and her husband operated a furniture store in Mountain View for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain View.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Eddie Lee; two brothers, Wade and George Reese; three sisters, Emma Caudell, Esther Carlsen and Lura Yates, and an infant grandson.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Redlich, Mountain View, and Joann Kingsley, Miller; one brother, Thomas (Dock) Reese, Havre, Mont.; one sister, Selma (Dude) Hamer, Lebanon; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-gandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, April 3, at Yarber Chapel in Mountain View with Pastor John Noble officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mountain View.
Mandy Ball
Mandy Ball, 72, Aurora, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, in her home.
She was born July 16, 1937, in Bradfield to Carl and Mabel Greenway Gillmore.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Sr.; two sons, Richard Ball Jr., Aurora, and Alan Ball, Upland, Calif.; two daughters, Lorena Ball and April Ball Ward, both of Aurora; one brother, Lloyd Gillmore, Verona; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Ball; five brothers, David, Lewis, George, Robert and Charles Gillmore; and two sisters, Lilly Bell Zink and Margaret Robison.
Services were Monday, Sept. 21, in Peterson Funeral Chapel, Aurora. Burial was in Clay Hill Cemetery, south of Aurora.
Virginia Lee Barbee
Virginia Lee Barbee, 86, Marionville, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009.
She was born May 8, 1922, to William and Bernice Fish in Watertown, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; one son, Mike; and one sister, Evelyn.
Survivors include her children, Richard Shitlow, Kingman, Ariz, Kathy Lawrence and Joe Barbee, both of Crane, Claire Rayle and Ellen Newell, both of Aurora, Brenda Wilburn, West Frankfort, Ill., and Linda Rose, Springfield; one sister, Lucy Schlotte, Dallas, Texas; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church of Aurora. She wrote a weekly column for the Crane Chronicle for many years.
Services were Saturday, April 4, under direction of Manlove-Stumpff Funeral Home, Crane.
Lee Maxine (Richesin) Barger
Lee Maxine (Richesin) Barger, 78, Marionville, died Friday, June 29, 2007, at Mercy Villa, Springfield.
She was born Nov. 10, 1928, in Bear Creek Township, Ark., to Hugh and Kittie (Andrews) Richesin.
She graduated from Omaha (Ark.) High School and was a 1954 graduate of Harding College, Searcy, Ark. She taught school in Arkansas, Louisana and Virginia.
She was married to Paul Stephens from Mississippi in the late 1950's until his death.
She married Jack Doyle Barger June 12, 1960. He died Jan. 3, 1989. During his air force career they lived in military base communities in Virginia, Alaska and Nebraska. They moved to Springfield in 1968, and then to Marionville in 1970.
Survivors include three sons, Jackie, Ozark, Andy, Chanute, Kan., and Dave, Paris, Tenn.; two daughters, Kit Wright, Republic, and Kathy Wheat, Branson West; one brother, Lester Richesin, Pierce City; one sister, Ann Reed, Kansas City; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Daisy Davis. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a leader in Scouts, 4-H and Parent Teacher Association for many years. She was nearly a full-time substitute teacher more than 20 years in the Marionville schools.
For more than 25 years she wrote a weekly column entitled "From My Corner On The Hill" which was published in the Marionville Free Press and Crane Chronicle. She served on the Marionville Apple Fest committee for several years and was honored in 2000 as "Miss Golden Delicious"
Services were Tuesday, July 3, at William Funeral Home, Marionville. Burial was in Marionville IOOF Cemetery.

John David Barker, 47, Aurora, died at 2:18 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at his home.
He was born Dec. 8, 1962, in Monett to Ralph and Anne (Mulkey) Barker.
He was a 1981 graduate of Aurora High School and a member of the United Methodist Church of Aurora.
Survivors include his parents, Ralph and Anne Barker, of the home; and one sister Jill Brandmeyer, Kansas City.
Services were Monday, Feb. 25, at the United Methodist Church, Aurora. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

Jimmie Raymond "Blackie" Barton
Jimmie Raymond "Blackie" Barton, 77, Aurora, died at 8:49 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at Cox South, Springfield.
He was born May 11, 1932, in Dodge City, Kan., to Caryle and Iola (Green) Barton.
He married Linda Bowling July 14, 1973, in Cassville. She survives.
He worked in more than 38 states and Cuba before settling in Aurora. He worked for the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office and the Aurora Police Department for a total of 26 years, was a 30-plus year member of the Aurora Lions Club and a member of the Elm Branch Christian Church.
He was a Mason and a Shriner. He formed the Aurora Backlashers Fishing Club and helped form and was a member of the Tri-States Crappie Club. He put on a Wednesday evening fishing tournament for the past 19 years at Shell Knob, and performed the "Fishing in the Ozarks" radio show on KSWM- Aurora for the past two years. He ran the wrecker at Monett Spreedway for 32 years, established Barton's Service Center and owned and operated Blackie Barton's Towing since 1975.
Additional survivors include two sons, Darrell Barton, Maple Grove, Minn., and Darrin Barton, Aurora; one half-brother, Charles Keith, Stockton; and two grandchildren.
Services were Monday, Aug. 10, at the United Methodist Church, Aurora. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

Terri Renee Bates, 33, Monett, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, in Cox Monett.
She was born May 2, 1974, in Springfield to Lemial and Virginia (Shepard) Boykin. She married Fred Bates Sept. 15, 2001, in Marionville. He survives.
She was a homemaker and a 1992 graduate of Aurora High School.

Dorothy Jean Batson, 76, Marionville, died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, in Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville.
She was born Oct. 11, 1931, in Logan to Ralph and Merle (Batson) Mooneyham.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Marionville First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Batson, and a baby sister.
Survivors include one son, Jay Vinton Batson, Marionville; four siblings, Carl Mooneyham, Ash Grove, and Ruby White, Reva Stewart and Kay Glass, all of Republic; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

"Gertie" Helen Batson
"Gertie" Helen Batson, 93, Aurora, died at 3:20 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Aurora Nursing Center.
She was born Jan. 31, 1916, in Highlandville to James and Josephine (Medlin) Henson.
She grew up in Billings. She moved from Kansas to Aurora in 1976. She worked as a nurses' aide and was a member of the Eastern Star, Ladies Extension Club of Billings and Aurora Baptist Temple.
She married Walter Batson, Jan. 6, 1936, in Kansas City, Kan. He died Feb. 17, 1989.
Survivors include one daughter, Josephine Mooneyham, Ash Grove; one brother, Raymond Henson, Willows, Calif.; one foster daughter, Shirley Spooner, Ulysses, Kan.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Walter LeRoy Batson; two brothers, Leslie and Jack Henson; and two sisters, Berniece Buckmiller and Aileen Bowers.

She was born Feb. 10, 1923, in Billings to George and Daisy V. (Pendleton) Baum.
She graduated from Marionville High School and moved to California in 1949. She was employed as a supervisor at Wyle Electronics, retiring in 1986.
She returned to Missouri in 1999 and lived in Republic. She was a member of the McKinley Christian Church, where she was baptized Sept. 27, 1936.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Lester Baum, and one sister, Barbara (Baum) McCullah.

Phyllis Margaret Beck, 94, Aurora, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, in the Aurora Nursing Center, Aurora.
She was born Oct. 19, 1915, in Webb City to Alta and Floyd Cannon. She grew up in Webb City, attending the Webb City Schools.
She married William Daniel (Dub) Beck of Carthage in 1932. They lived in Carthage until moving to Aurora in 1945. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of Chapter DD of the PEO and a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Aurora.
She kept the books for the B&T Supermarket in Aurora, owned by her husband, Cliff Journagan, and Bob Thurman.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Beeler and Frances Mitchell.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Kessler, Belvedere, Calif.; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.

Phillip David Bishop - 63, Lockwood, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, in Freeman Health Systems, Joplin.
He was born June 12, 1943, in Lockwood to Eldon Madison and Anna Juanita (Caffey) Bishop.
He was employed by the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, and was the last owner of Bishop Auto Service, which his family owned and operated in Lockwood for more than 50 years.
He married Terry Gwin in Lockwood Dec. 12, 1981. She survives.
He was a member of the Lockwood First Baptist Church and the Lockwood American Legion Post #372, Roy E. Carr.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

She was born March 18, 1917, to Frank and Betty Mayberry in Highlandville. She married Knowles Blevins in October 1935. He died July 13, 1995.

He was born Aug. 30, 1961, to Paul H. and Bernice (Frost) Blue. He married Geneva J. Chew June 6, 1989, in Springfield. She survives.

Douglas Walter Boggs
Douglas Walter "Doug" Boggs, 45, Wentworth, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at his home, of cancer.
He was born Oct. 29, 1964, in Aurora to Walter E. and Carol A. (Maggard) Boggs. He lived in Wentworth most of his life and attended Sarcoxie schools. He was employed by Jasper Products for many years and the Lawrence County Common 2 Road District until his health forced him to retire.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Marjorie Maggard; and paternal grandparents Charley and Vinita Boggs.
He married Chere' (Booker) Boggs Nov. 29, 2003. She survivors.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Josie Boggs of the home, and Kristy Sanchez, Webb City; his parents, Walter and Carol Boggs, Wentworth; three sisters, Lori Boggs, Jane, Eugenia Landers, Carl Junction, and Marge Ventrano, Wentworth; maternal grandfather, Leonard Maggard, Oronogo; and two grandsons.

Bob Boswell
Bob Boswell, 65, Aurora, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, in St. John's Aurora.
He was born to John and Ruth Fare Boswell June 15, 1941, in Aurora. He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Charlena; four sons, Robert Boswell, Texas, Bobby and David Culver, both of Aurora, and Kevin Neal, Verona; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were Monday, May 7, in Peterson Funeral Chapel, Aurora. Burial was in Osa Cemetery.
Donald W. Bowerman
Don W. Bowerman was born May 5, 1931, to Ivan and Lottie Bowerman. He passed away Nov. 21, 2007, at the age of 76 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in northwest Lawrence County, near Miller. After graduating from Miller High School in 1949, Don operated a shoe and harness repair shop until 1951. He then entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1954. Don was united in marriage to Shirley Prater on Nov. 14, 1954. They shared 53 years of marriage. Don served as a board member for MFA in Miller. He was also a past Miller School Board member as well as a founding member of the Miller Rural Fire Association. Don was a member of the Miller First Baptist Church.
Don had a love of rural life and fulfilled his dream of owning and operating a beef cattle ranch. He also enjoyed his occupation as a rural mail carrier. He was able to deliver the mail on his rural route until his retirement in 1991. Don received care from Dr. Robert Carolla for 19 years. He also received care from the compassionate nursing staff of Cox South.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul Bowerman. Also preceding him in death was a daughter-in-law, Anna Marie Bowerman.
Survivors include his wife and two sons, Dale and Doug Bowerman, all of Miller. He is also survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, two nieces, two nephews and many friends.
Services were Monday, Nov. 26, at Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller. Burial was in Sycamore Cemetery.

She was employed by Nickerson Farms in Stotts City for many years and was a member of Stotts City First Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Marceline Schnake; four brothers, Carol, Lloyd, Weldon and Ken; and three grandchildren.

She was born Aug. 22, 1967, in Kansas City to John and Gaythal (Dethloff) Boyd. She was a 1985 graduate of Ruskin High School in Kansas City. She worked as an office manager for Tracker Marine. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her parents, John and Gaythal Boyd, Aurora; one son, A.J. Hutchens, Mulberry, Kan.; two sisters, Pam Lewis, Raytown, and Diane Downs, Branson; and maternal grandmother Janie Dethloff, Lawrence, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Verrell Dethloff.

Charles Richard "Dick" Brady
Charles Richard "Dick" Brady, 87, Monett, died at 6:55 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the Lawrence County Manor, Mt. Vernon. He was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Lafayette, Ind., to James and Nancy (Cox) Darling. He married Frances Mae Francis Jan. 9, 1944, in Long Beach, Calif. She died Nov. 13, 2007.
He was a graduate of West Lafayette High School in Indiana and attended Purdue University. He was a longtime newspaperman, having worked at the Lamar Democrat in Lamar, Lawrenceville (Illinois) Daily Record and The Monett Times. He was publisher of The Monett Times from 1975 until retiring in 1989. He was a United States Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was past commander of Hobbs-Anderson Post 91 Monett American Legion and was named Legionnaire of the Year in 1974. He was a member of Tom Wolfe Memorial Post 4207 Veterans of Foregin Wars. He was the first president of the Monett Quarterbak Club, which later became the Monett Booster Club. He was named Young Newspaperman of the Year by the Missouri Press Association in 1961. He was a recipient of the Monett Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award in 1993. He served as chairman of the Monett Unit of the Salvation Army and headed the Legion's fireworks program on the Fourth of July for many years. He was past president of the Monett Lions Club and was active in the Monett Kiwanis Club. During his years at The Monett Times, he covered 259 consecutive Monett High School Cubs football games.

Stephen W. Brakemeyer
Stephen W. Brakemeyer, 63, Republic, passed away suddenly in his home Friday, March 9, 2007. He was born March 21, 1943, to Virgil and Billie (Fulton) Brakemeyer. He was united in marriage to Kay Brady on Jan. 29, 1967.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Thomas Brady.
He is survived by his wife, Kay, of the home; son, Richard Brakemeyer, Springfield; daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Shane Amstutz, Springfield; two beloved grandsons, Keaton and Carson; and mother-in-law, Helen Brady, Springfield. He is also survived by four sisters and their husbands, Karen and Bruce Emmerton, Stafford, VA., Barbara and Jim Hrouda, Farmington, Linda and Bill Pajnic, San Antonio, Texas, and Carol Hunt, Mt. Vernon.
Steve loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. He was often seen playing ball in the front yard with the boys. He enjoyed keeping up with local sports, and worked on the chain crew at the Republic football games. He had been employed at Kraft Foods for 36 years and was know to all there as “Dawg”.
Steve devoted his life to taking care of everyone around him. He will be missed dearly by all those who were blessed to know him.

Curtis V. Branham, 74, died Saturday, March 28, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Bessie Branham. She died April 29, 2004.
Survivors include six children, Charlie Branham, Marsha Branham, Freda Hathcock, Noah Branham, Sheila Robertson, and Jason Branham; three brothers, Lloyd Branham, Bob Branham and Bill Branham; and a sister, Opal Potter.

Terry Gene Branham 50, Aurora, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2009, at his home.
He was born March 12, 1959, in Aurora to Theodore "Toby" and Nadine (Henson) Branham.
He worked for many years at ADF and more recently for the Aurora Special Road District. He was a member of Church on the Rock.
Survivor include his companion, Norma Harrison, Aurora; two brothers, John Branham, Aurora, and Steve Branham, Marshfield; and two sisters, Debbie Owens and Pam Jones, both of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Robert.
Services were Thursday, May 28, at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.

Brad T. Branstetter, 56, Aurora, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, in his home.
He was born Sept. 5, 1953, in Aurora to Otis and Treva (Wilson) Branstetter.
He was a rancher and a lifelong resident of the area.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Branstetter; three sons, Daren Branstetter, Aurora, Brian Branstetter, Hurley, and Arin Branstetter, Crane; his mother and her husband, Treva and Caleb Sparks, Crane, two brother, Otis Lee Branstetter, Crane, and Steve Branstetter, Aurora; one half-sister, Sara Branstetter, Aurora; one half-brother, John Branstetter, Aurora; and two granddaughters.

Beatrice "Lorene" Breeden
Beatrice “Lorene” Breeden - 88, Springfield, died at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, in Springfield Rehabilitation Health Care Center, Springfield.
She was born Nov. 11, 1918 in Vandalia to Marcellis and Grace (Weatherauld) Daniels. She worked at the elementary school in the food service department and was of the Assembly of God faith.
She married Charles Otto Breeden Aug. 30, 1942, in Mt. Vernon. He died Oct. 16, 2001.
Survivors include one daughter, Jacquie Dowdy, Springfield, one son, Dan Breeden, Mt. Vernon; one brother, Jim Daniels, Vandalia; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services were Saturday, March 17, in the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery with the Rev. Phillip Wright officiating under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.

Wilbert D. "Whip" Bremer
Wilbert D. "Whip" Bremer, lifelong resident of Freistatt, died Friday, April 10, 2009, in the Missorui Veterans' Home/Mt. Vernon. He was 95.
Mr. Bremer was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. His last post was in Germany, where he met Lena Lutz, who would later become his wife.
He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt. He was also a member of the Freistatt American Legion and Freistatt Lions Club. He was a retired farmer who was known for growing strawberries. He was also known as "Mr. Ernte Fest" for his work with Freistatt's annual harvest festival.
Surviving are his wife, Lena; a daughter, Mary Gallagher, Springfield; a son, Jim Bremer, East Longmeadow, Mass.; and two grandsons.
Services were Monday, April 13, in Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Ryan Buchmueller officiating. Buchanan Fuenral Home, Monett, handled arrangements.

Vernon Brockschmidt
Vernon Brockschmidt, 79, Freistatt, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009.
He was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Freistatt to Walter and Louise (Lampe) Brockschmidt.
He attended Trinity Lutheran School in Freistatt. He was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. W.W. Stuenkel April 2, 1944. He graduated from Monett High School in 1948. He farmed in the Freistatt area until 2003. He served 21 years in the Missouri National Guard, retiring in 1969 as a captain.
He married Verna Schmeling March 24, 1950. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include six children, Peggy Brockschmidt, Kansas City, Gail Schunck and Neal Brockschmidt, both of Olathe Kan., Eloise Brockschmidt, Overland park, Kan., Debra Poese, Rockville, Md., and Joni Evans, Newport News, Va.; one sister, Erna Schoen, Freistatt; and eight grandchildren.
He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and had served as chairman and secretary of the voter's assembly and president of the school board. He also served for more than 20 years as president of the Freistatt Farmers Exchange board.
Services were Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Ryan Buchmueller officiating. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Freistatt, under direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.

Doyle R. Brown
Doyle R. Brown, 48, Pierce City, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, after a long illness.
He was born Oct. 25, 1958, in Monett to Jay and Geneva (Dalton) Brown. He graduated from Pierce City High School in 1977, and served in the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver and farmer. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pierce City.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, David Brown in 1986 and Dennis Brown in 2006
Survivors include his parents, Jay and Geneva Brown, Pierce City; one sister, Dorita Dennison, Pierce City; one brother, Darell Brown, Pierce City; and maternal grandmother, Ona Thrasher, Anderson.
Graveside services were Monday, Feb. 26, at Clear Creek Cemetery, near Pierce City, with the Revs. Peter Morciniec and Mark Wilson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City.

Fay Brown, 79, Aurora, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in his home.
He was born Sept. 8, 1929, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Archie and Elvira Johnson Brown. He was a retired mechanic.
Survivors include three sons, Allen Brown and Phil Brown, both of Aurora, and Tim Brown, Corcoran, Calif., three sisters, Linda Griffin, Pierce City, Carol Bradney, Porterville, Calif., and Teresa House, Aurora; 20 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; one daughter, Diane Trice; two brothers; and one sister.
Graveside services were Monday, June 15, in Orange Cemetery, north of Aurora, under direction of Peterson Funeral Chapel, Aurora.
Letta Vivian Brown
Letta Vivian Brown - 96, Aurora, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, in he Aurora Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 20, 1910, in Verona to Ira and Ollie (Hillhouse) Askins.
She spent her entire life in Lawrence County and resided on the same farm outside of Aurora from 1927 until November 2006. She was a member of the McKinley Christian Church.
She married Leonard Brown Dec. 25, 1927, in Aurora. He died Nov. 22, 1991, after 63 years of marriage.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dixie Lee, who died in 1932; two brothers, Joe and Oden; and three sisters, Verna, Alta and Alma.
Survivors include one sister, Leta Magers, Joplin.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora, with the Rev. Frank Stark officiating. Burial will be in the Marionville IOOF Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Marian Dorothy Brown
Marian Dorothy Brown, 99, Dallas, Texas, formerly of Aurora, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at the Presbyterian Village North in Dallas.
She was born Aug. 20, 1910, in Georgia City, the daughter of Thomas Mack and Maude A. (Thomas) Ross.
She grew up in the Carthage community. She graduated from Carthage High School and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Carthage.
On Aug. 29, 1934, she married Robert Leonard Brown in Carthage. He preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1978. In 1934, she and her husband moved to Aurora. Mrs. Brown worked as a sales clerk for the Ramsey Department Store, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Aurora Saturday Club, PEO Chapter JE, and the General Federation of Women's Clubs.
Thoses surviving her include one son, William Mack Brown, Marble Falls, Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon and Robert Ross; and one sister, Helen Fullerton.
Services were Friday, Jan. 8, at the First Presbyterian Church, Aurora, under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial was in Fullerton Cemetery in Carthage.

Millie Ruth Brown - 86, Marionville, died at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14,, at the Ozarks Methodist Manor.
She was a housekeeper at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center, Mt. Vernon.
She was a member of the Marionville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include seven daughters, Joan Young, Macks Creek, Beverly Walker and Ginnie Smith, both of Marionville, Carrie Oetker, Mt. Vernon, Loraine Batson, Cape Fair, Juanita Coffer, Springville, CA, and Brenda Johnson, Aurora; three sons, Roy Brown and Jonnie Brown, both of Mesa AZ and Juan Brown, Galena, one sister, Elvia Carney, Sacramento, CA; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Brown.

J.D. Browning, 85, Aurora, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, in the Aurora Nursing Center.
He was born Feb. 1, 1924, to Jay and Lela Shipley Browning in Verona. He was a retired shoe factory superintendent, a United States Air Corps veteran and an elder at the First Christian Church, Aurora.
Survivors include his wife of more than 60 years, Leila; two sons, Dennis Browning, Trenton, and Dwayne Browning, Columbia; one brother, Orlin Browning, Aurora; one sister, Madge Burch, Aurora; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Black and Marie Neimeyer-Pryor.
Services were Saturday, Dec. 12, in the First Christian Church, Aurora, under direction of Peterson Funeral Chapel, Aurora. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.

Edwin H. Buchanan - 88, Aurora, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, in the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center.
He was born Nov. 2, 1918 in Aurora to George R. and Zhuber (Elliot) Buchanan.
He graduated with the Aurora High School Class of 1938.
Edwin, a world War II Navy veteran, served as an electrician on the USS Schuylkill. He was a route man for coca Cola for 31 years with the maintenance department. He was a member of the ABC American Legion Post 12, United Commercial Travelers and the Aurora United Methodist Church.
On March 30, 1940, he married Ona Marie McNatt in Aurora. The celebrated 66 years of marriage. She survives him of the home.
Additional survivors include one son, Don Buchanan and his wife Debbie, of Aurora; two daughters, Jo Neil Wood and her husband Mike, of St. Louis, and Ida Kay Gooldy and her husband John of Springfield; one granddaughter, Mandy Wood of St. Louis; three grandsons, Josh Wood and his wife Rhonda, of Springfield; Dallas Buchanan of Birmingham, Ala., and Denver Buchanan of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two great-grandsons. His parents and one infant boy preceded him in death.

John William Bunt II
John William Bunt II, 60, Verona, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, in St. John’s, Aurora.He was born Dec. 28, 1946, in Springfield, Colo., to Samuel and Verina (Taylor) Bunt. He married Carolyn Robinson Nov. 11, 2006 in Verona. She survives.
Additional survivors include four sons, Sam Bunt, Larry Bunt, John W. Bunt III, all of Cassville, and Johnny A. Bunt, state of Nevada; two daughters, Angie Donaldson and Christina Casey, both of Cassville; his mother Verina Robinson, Verona; one sister, Rose Marie Wood, Verona; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Michael Bunt; two sisters, Carolyn Bunt and Jenett Wood; and one brother, Joseph Wood.
Services were Sunday, Jan. 14, in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora, with Pastor Terry Fletcher officiating. Burial was in Cato Cemetery, Cassville.

Cindy Lou Burks, 44, Miller, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, in her residence. Cindy was born Nov. 19, 1965, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of James and Freda (Linder) Burks. She was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and was a supervisor for the Service Master Company.
Those who survive her are one daughter, Natasha Belleau of Mt. Vernon; grandson Kellen DuBose of Mt. Vernon; three borthers, Danny Burks and his wife, Judy, Jerry Burks and his wife, Dawn, and Ancil Wiehe, all of Mt. Vernon; four sisters, Gayle Lester and her husband, Bobby, and Carole Maples and her husband, Steve, all of Mt. Vernon, Pam Southards and her husbnad, Randy and Lena Lung and her husband, Don, all of Miller; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, in Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon. No services are planned.

Gloria June Burney, 77, Stotts City, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009.
She was born May 5, 1932, in Creighton to Clifton and Beulah Hayes. She retired in 2002 from Massie's Super Stop, Stotts City. She married Elvin Burney in 1965. He died in 2004.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Darrell Pierson; one stepson, Ronald Burney; one sister, Nancy Simmons, and two brothers, Kenneth Hayes and Gene Hayes.
Survivors include three sons, Mike Pierson, Ohio, Steve Pierson, Stotts City, and Daniel Pierson, Sarcoxie; one stepson, Boyce, Springfield; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m.
Twyla Maxine (White) Burris
Twyla Maxine (White) Burris, 83, Auorra, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at the Aurora Nursing Center, Aurora, MO. She was born Jan. 14, 1927, on the family farm north of Granby to Earl and Eva White. She graduated from Granby High School with the Class of 1945. She married Edwin Burris in the Pepsin community, near Sarcoxie, in 1949. He died in 1971.
She spent most of her working career in garment factories. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Aurora.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Dingman, Aurora; one brother, Marion White, Neosho; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Eunice White Edwards, Bernard White and Gayle White Pritchard.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

Edna BurtchettEdna Burtchett, 87, Aurora, died Thursday, April 29, 2010, in Lacoba Nursing Home, Monett. She was born Sept. 8, 1922, in Rosebud, Ark., to James and Martha Edwards Nunley.
She had been a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Aurora since 1988, where she served in several officer positions through the years.
Survivors include one sister, Hazel Scott, Rockledge, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; one son, John Burtchett; one brother, Ira Nunley; and five sisters, Irene Hensley, Viola Nunley, Wilma Bell, Inita Huffines and Earlene Warner.
Services were Saturday, May 1, in the Peterson Funeral Home Chapel, Aurora. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.

Sue Ann Burtman - 66, Branson, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at her home.
She was born Nov. 10, 1940, in Mt. Vernon to Ernie and Irene Schmidt Jeffords.
She had been a resident of Branson for many years and had worked as a bookkeeper for Skaggs community Health Center in Branson for 20 years, before her retirement.
Survivors include two sons, Clay Burtman, Hollister, and Cory Burtman, Branson; one sister; Alzora Hooker, Branson; and two brothers, Carl Jeffords, Waupon, Wisc., and John Rudy Jeffords, Aurora.

Harold Benson "Bennieee" Burton Jr.
Harold Benson "Bennie" Burton Jr. 62, Aurora, died at 7:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at his home.
He was born Jan. 22, 1947, in Kirksville to Harold B. Sr. and Lucretta Delezene (Roberts) Burton.
He married Linda (Dalton) Clay July 1, 1989, in Chula. She survives.
He worked as a general superintendent for Ozark Mountain Apparel and was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of Quail Unlimited.
Additional survivors include two sons, Donald Burton, Springfield, and Daren Burton, Alexandria, La.; two stepchildren, Athena Melnicki, Joplin, and Jeremy Clay, Aurora; three brothers, Randy Burton, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Bill Burton and Gary Burton, both of Cassville; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Linda Scott.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 19, at Crafton-Canrell Funeral Home, Aurora.
Velma Lee Butts
Velma Lee Butts, 79, Aurora, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, in St. John's Aurora.
She was born Sept. 2, 1928, in Herndon. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in April 1994; five sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Butts, Aurora, and Mike Butts, Marionville; one daughter, Janice Bishop, Russsellville, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Burial will be in Hazel Grove Cemetery, near Marshall, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.
