Marion Lavelle Gardner, 49, Aurora, died at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009, three months after being diagnosed with cancer, at the home of his sister and caregiver, Laura Richardson.Mary Frances Gardner, 65, Miller, died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, J an. 23, 2007, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.


Marion Lavelle Gardner
He was born May 25, 1959, in Springfield to Marvin Lavelle and Christina (Stephens) Gardner.
He worked in road construction for APAC Construction, and most recently, for Journagan's Construction.
Survivors include his father, Marvin Gardner and his wife, Doris, Mt. Vernon; his mother, Christina Walker and her husband, George, Aurora; four sisters, Arletta Hadlow, Emma Ormsby, Laura Richardson and Lisa Smith, all of Aurora; three step-brothers, Paul, Rusty and Pat Elsey, and one step-sister, Lucinda Hall.
Services were Friday, may 22, at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial was in Marionville IOOF Cemetery.
Mary Frances Gardner

Darrell Layne Garner

Darrell Layne Garner, 62, Aurora, died at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at his home.
He was born Feb. 13, 1944, in rural Billings to Clarence and Grace (Johnson) Garner.
He was a 1962 graduate of Aurora High School and a United States Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He retired from Zenith Electronics, where he worked as a production manager. He also helped his brothers at the Garner Brothers Garage and was a farmer.
He married Janet Scott Oct. 31, 1982, in McAllen, Texas. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Jon Garner, Aurora, and Andy Garner, Pleasant Ridge; two daughters, Marci Behm, DesMoines, Iowa, and Dana Garner, Aurora, his mother Grace Garner, Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Ronnie and Dave Garner, both of Verona, and Steve Garner, Madry; two sisters, Beverly Stewart, Mt. Vernon, and Sonya Rinker, Chesapeake; and two grandchildren.
His father preceded him in death.
Services were Friday, Jan. 5, in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial, with full military honors, was in the Lee Cemetery, Verona.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sycamore School Fund or donor’s choice, in care of the funeral home.

Shelly Kay Garner
Shelly Kay Garner, 31, Monett, died at 11 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009, at her home. She was born July 9, 1977, in Monett. She married Destin Garner in June 2001 in Wheaton. He died in September 2005. She was a waitress at the Sunrise Restaurant in Monett. She attended Freedom Christian Center in Aurora. Survivors include one son, Devin Banks, Pierce City; one daughter, Jaiden Garner, of the home, her mother, Debbie (Wormington) Banks, Pierce City; her father and his wife, Onis and Mary Banks, Verona; one sister, Sarah Banks, Monett; and her maternal grandmother, Billie Wormington, Monett. Graveside services were Thursday, June 18, at New Site Cemetery, with the Rev. Aaron Weibel officiating, under direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the children, in care of the funeral home.
Doris Jean (Henson) Garoutte
Doris Jean (Henson) Garoutte, 70, Aurora, died at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, in her home.
She was born Oct. 12, 1939, in Aurora to Clarence and Effie (Maine) Henson. She lived in Aurora most of her life and was a 1958 graduate of Aurora HIgh School. She was a homemaker.
She married Jimmie Lee Garroute Oct. 5, 1979 in Aurora, he died Nov. 11, 2008.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Neill, Monett, and Michael Neill, Aurora, two daughters, Vicki Cornelius, Marionville, and LaDonna Neill, Miller; two sisters, Beverly Lofton, Aurora, and Frances Harp, Martinez, Ga.; two brothers, David Henson, Aurora, and Fred Brashears, Halltown; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Neill; two brothers, Bob Maine and Eugene Henson; and one sister, Nadine Branham.
Services were Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, in care of the funeral home.
Jimmie Lee Garoutte



Jimmie Lee Garoutte - 73, Aurora, died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at the Missouri Veterans’ Home / Mt. Vernon.
He was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Marionville, to Kimbrew and Nola (Young) Garoutte. He retired as a lieutenant from the United States Marine Corps in 1972.
He married Doris Jean Henson Oct. 5, 1979, in Aurora. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Rick Garoutte, Verona, Jack Neill, Monett, and Michael Neill, Aurora; two daughters, Vicki Cornelius, Marionville, and LaDonna Neill, Miller; four brothers, Terry Garoutte, Aurora, Bill Garoutte, Purdy, and Rick and Danny Garoutte, both of Marionville; one sister, Connie Pracht, Walnut Shade; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Lonnie Garoutte; one brother, Henry Garoutte; and one sister, Betty Bowman.
Services were Saturday, Nov. 15, in Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial, with full military honors, was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.
Bradley Daniel "Brad" Gentry
Bradley Daniel “Brad” Gentry, 47, Miller, died at 10:24 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2007, in St. John’s Joplin.
He was born Aug. 30, 1959, in Princeton to Danny Lee and Norma Jean (Minshall) Gentry.
He grew up in Princeton and was a 1978 graduate of Princeton High School. In 1987, he moved to the Miller community, where he has resided since. He worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation as a conservation worker. He worked at Table Rock Dam and Chesapeake Fish Hatchery, as well as several other hatcheries in Missouri. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Miller congregation.
Survivors include one son, Luke, and his mother, Jennie, Miller; his father, Danny Gentry and his wife Pauline, Princeton; his mother, Norma Davis and her husband, Bob, Miler; four brothers, David Gentry, Lees Summit, Aaron Hobbs, Anderson, Brian Hobbs, Blue Springs, and William “Bill” Gentry, Kansas City; and two sisters, JoAnn McLin, Centerville, Iowa, and Regina Huitt, Billings.
Services were Thursday, April 26, in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Miller. Burial was in Sycamore Cemetery, under direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or the World Wide Works of Jehovah’s Witnesses, in care of the funeral home.
Jerry Lee Gibson
Jerry Lee Gibson, 67, Miller, died Friday, May 7, 2010, in his home.
He was born Feb. 25, 1943, in Santa Monica, Calif., to Maurice Floyd and Mildred Helen (Taylor) Gibson. He was a "jack of all trades," from race car driver to gunsmith.
Survivors include two daughters, Kelly Hert and Dana Lacy; one son, Jerry Gibson; his mother, Mildred Pretti; one sister, Diane Carter; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, under direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, Springfield.
George Franklin Gillmore
George Franklin Gillmore, 73, Verona, died at 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, in his home, following a long illness.
He was born March 6, 1934, in Monett to Carl and Mable (Greenway) Gillmore. He was a retired Syntex employee.
He is survived by two sisters, Margaret Robinson, Kansas City, and Mandy Ellen Ball, Aurora; and two brothers, Dave and Loyd Gillmore, both of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lilly Bell Zink; and three brothers, Robert, Charles and Lewis Gillmore.
Services were Thursday, Dec. 20, in Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Allmon officiating. Burial was in Clay Hill Cemetery.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Clay Hill Cemetery.
Michael Goacher
Michael Goacher, 52, Stotts City, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Cox Monett.
He was born Sept. 10, 1956, in Taylorville, Ill. He was a construction contractor.
Survivors include one daughter, Nichole Barton, Ruma, Ill.; one son, Steven McMeans, Festus; two stepdaughters, Brandi Bess, Taylorville, Ill., and Cara Walbridge, Carthage; two stepsons, Tyler Freeman, Fulton, and Eric Campbell, Jasper.; his father and stepmother, John J. Plopper Jr. and Carde Plopper, Morrisville, Ill.; his mother, Suzie Lane, Forth Worth, Texas; six sisters, Rhonda Plopper and Tammy Bess, both of Morrisville, Ill., MaDonna Brown, Sottts City, Terese Bailey, Monett, LeeAnn Carithers, Pierce City, and Cindy Barricklow, Springfield, Ill.; four brothers, David Goacher, Lovington, Ill., John Plopper, Aurora, Tim Plopper, Providence, Ky., and Tom Plopper, Carthage; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services were Friday, Feb. 6, at New Site Cemetery, south of Pierce City, with the Rev. Dick Palmer officiating, under direction of Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City.
Charles "Sonny" Gold
Charles “Sonny” Gold, 59, Aurora, died at 6:55 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at St. John’s Springfield.
He was born May 31, 1947, in Aurora to Donald Lee and Audrey Jean (Rickman) Gold.
He was a Vietnam veteran of the United State Army. He owned his own truck and drove for RBX, Inc., in Springfield. He was of the Baptist faith.
He married Andrea Roskuszka Sept. 16, 1989, in Dominguez Hills, Calif. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Steve Gold, Zebulon, N.C. and Charlie Gold, Burbank, Calif.; one sister, Donna Jean Beck, Buffalo; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, in the Crane Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home prior to services.
Clyde Lee Gold
Clyde Lee Gold, 87, Aurora, died at 7:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, in St. John's, Springfield.
He was born Oct. 21, 1919, in Aurora to Sherman and Lottie (Talley) Gold. He was a World War II United States Army veteran and a charter member of Aurora American Legion Post 126. He was service manager for Carr Motor Company, retiring in 1981. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He married Pauline Garner July 27, 19946, in Girard, Kan. She survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Janet Davis, Wichita, Kan.; two grandsons; and five great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Iola Hadley; and five brothers, Paul, Joe, John, Jim and Dick Gold.
Graveside services with the military rites, were Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, with the Rev. Roger Brumley officiating. Arrangements were under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.
Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, in care of the funeral home.
Pauline Gold
Pauline Gold, 83, Aurora, died at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at her home.
She was born Dec. 12, 1925, in Chesapeake to Henry and Ora (Hutchinson) Garner.
She retired from Juvenile Shoe Company and was a member of the Aurora American Legion Auxiliary Post 126.
She married Clyde Lee Gold July 27, 1946. He died Sept. 7, 2007.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet Davis; two grandsons; and five great-grandsons.
Graveside services were Saturday, Feb. 14, in Maple Park Cemetery, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.
Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, in care of the funeral home.
Earnest Andrew "Andy" Goodman
Earnest Andrew "Andy" Goodman, 64, Stotts City, died at 11:29 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, in Cox South, Springfield.
He was born May 13, 1945, in Chesapeake to Gustavus Adolphus "Gus" and Julia Caroline (Justis) Goodman.
He grew up in the Lawrence County community. He moved to Rockford, Ill, where he worked at the Elco Tool Company for 16 years. He returned to Lawrence County in 1979. He worked for the Mt. Vernon Road District for a short while and then went to work as maintenance supervisor for the Mt. Vernon School District from 1982 to 2007 and farmed.
He married Phyllis Brown May 24, 1964, in Mt. Vernon. She survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Patty Mann, Cheyenne, Wyo.; one son, Tim Goodman, Mt. Vernon; three brothers, G. A. Goodman, address unknown, and Jimmy and Mike Goodman, both of Mt. Vernon; four sisters, Willa Kettering, Springfield, Sue Matejeck, Texas, Janet Haskins, Oklahoma, and Caroline Epps, Mt. Vernon; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Darren.
Graveside services were Monday, Aug. 24, at Summit Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, under direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.
James "Bud" Goodman
James "Bud" Goodman, 64, Ash Grove, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, in his home.
He was born Nov. 27, 1944, in Springfield to Alvin Loren Sr., and Leatha Shelburn Goodman.
He married Dorothy Pratt in Halltown. She survives.
He served in the United States Air Force and Army.
Additional survivors include three daughters, three brothers, five sisters and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, with burial in Rock Prairie Cemetery, Halltown.
Jessie Louise Goring
Jessie Louise Goring, 81, Marionville, formerly of Aurora, died at 2:25 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at the Ozarks Methodist Manor,Marionville.
She was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Galeton, Colo., to Thomas and Chloe (Lynn) Gardner. She was a retired medication technician for the Aurora Nursing Center and a member of the Aurora Church of Christ.
She married Edward Goring March 6, 1944, in Lexington. He died May 19, 1993.
Survivors include one son, William Goring, Lee's Summitt; one daughter, Linda Shipman, Aurora; five grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday, Oct. 12, at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora, with Phil Williams officiating. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.
Memorial donations may be made to the Aurora Church of Chirst, in care of the funeral home.
Ruth Anna Greve
Ruth Anna Greve, 85, Verona, formerly of Morris, Ill., died at 9:11 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2009.
She was born April 2, 1924, in Morris to Vernon and Ethel (Claypool) Johnson.
She married Hermannes Greve April 7, 1951. He died Oct. 4, 2006.
She was a retired cafeteria worker at St. Vincent's Hospital in Monett. She was a member of the McCowell Community Church near Verona and a former member of the Morris Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Banks, Verona; one brother, Donald Johnson, Seneca, Ill.; three sisters, Julia Thompson, Normal, Ill., Peral Laing, Grand Chain Ill.; and Charlotte Berkland, Omaha, Neb.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Sample Cemetery, Morris, Ill., with the Rev. Diane Gillham officiating. Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett, is in charge of local arrangements.
Arlo E. Grimm
Arlo E. Grimm, 79, Sarcoxie, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center, Mt. Vernon, following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 25, 1930, in Boone, Iowa, to Harry E. and Naomi (Hall) Grimm. He grew up in Boone and graduated from Boone High School, where he played football, basketball and track. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served from 1950 to 1954, during the Korean Conflict. While stationed at the Greenville Air Force Base in Greenville, Miss., he met Dorothy Williams, whom he married Dec. 30, 1954, in Greenville. She survives.
They moved to Sarcoxie in 1956, where he started his career as a linotype operator at the Sarcoxie Record. They later moved back to Greenville, where he worked for the Delta Democrat and the Enterprises-Tocsin in Indianola, Miss. In 1974, they moved back to Sarcoxie. He leased the Skelley Station and operated it for the next four years. He worked for Wildwood Elementary School as custodian, before he began his career at McCune-Brooks Hospital in Carthage. He retired in 1999.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon.
Additional survivors include two sons, David Grimm, Cassville, and Paul Grimm, Sarcoxie; one daughter, Michele Barchak, Wentworth; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Edward Grimm and George Grimm.
Services were Saturday, Sept. 5, in Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, Sarcoxie.
Memorial donations may be made to Church of Christ, Mt. Vernon, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Eugene James Gripka
Mr. Eugene James Gripka, 86, of Aurora, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, surrounded by his family at home.
Mr. Gripka was born Nov. 9, 1920, to Albert and Barbara (Korba) Gripka at the homestead where he resided all his life.
Mr. Gripka married Mary Lou James Sept. 30, 1952, in Aurora. She preceded him in death Nov. 5, 2005.
He was a dairy farmer all his life. He attended the Lick Praire School. He was a veteran of World War II, served in 1946 and was a military policeman. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora, served on the cemetery board and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an Aurora Special Road District commissioner, and he served on the MFA Exchange Board and the Aurora Rural Fire Board. He enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Aurora FFA Alumni and was named an Honorary State Farmer.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Buehler and husband Bill, Regina Quintin and husband Allen, and Angie Sperandio, and two sons, Albert Gripka and Paul Gripka, all of Aurora; his grandchildren, Rebecca Buehler Baxter and husband Jason of Marshfield, Damon Buehler and wife Erin of Aurora, Amanda Quintin Mayne and husband Denny of Greenfield, Carrie Quintin Page and husband Jordan of Aurora, Grace Gripka and Caleb Sperandio of Aurora; great-grandchildren, Dakoda and Kacie Baxter, Landon Buehler, and Lacey, Maddison, Denny, Jocey and Derek Mayne; one brother, Charles Gripka of Aurora; one sister, Lenora Campbell of Monett; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Wayne Gripka, one daughter, Therese Gripka, two sisters and one brother.
Rosary services were Sunday, Nov. 11, at Peterson Funeral Home, Aurora. Funeral Mass was Monday, Nov. 12, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Aurora. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Aurora.
Memorials may be made in care of Community Hospices of America.
Frances Gryder
Frances Gryder, 82, Aurora, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, in St. John's, Aurora.
She was born Feb. 12, 1927, in Treece, Kan., to Lester and Dora Jones Cox. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Luther; a son, Leland Gryder, Monett; a daughter, Linda Staton, Aurora; two brothers, Chester Cox, Ozark, and Howard Cox, Hoberg; a sister, Nola Harris, Aurora; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Gryder; and four siblings, Carmen, Cledis, Ruby and Opal.
Services were Wednesday, April 8, in Peterson Funeral Chapel, Aurora. Burial was in McConnell Cemetery, Nixa.
Wayne Eugene Guenther
Wayne Eugene Guenther, 60, Monett, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, in Monett after a sudden illness.
He was born March 25, 1949, in Eldorado, Kan., to Nelson Eugene and Victoria Faye Sullivan Guenther.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors inclue his son, Ryan Guenther, Springfield; two sisters, Karen Hunter, Springfield, and Diana Blevins, Mt. Vernon; and one brother, Mark Guenther, Carthage.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under directions of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
Hayden Joe Gwin
Hayden Joe Gwin, Infant son of Ashley Leann Campbell and Bobby Gwin, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at his home.
He was born May 6, 2007, in Cox Monett.
Survivors include his parents; one sister, Hailey Campbell, of the home; three brothers, Dallas Campbell, of the home, Bobby Gwin, Mt. Vernon, and Daniel Bailey, Miller; maternal grandparents, Mary and Bill Myers, Miller, and James Campbell, Chesapeake; paternal grandparents, Tim Gwin, Hoberg, and Debra Gwin, Aurora; maternal great-grandparents, Bryon and Linda Blunt, Mt. Vernon, Don Trantham, Fair Grove, and Peggy Stout, Mt. Vernon; paternal great-grandparents, Clarence and Mary Gwin, Miller, and Sue Farmer, Pierce City.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Emily Dawn Campbell, his paternal great-grandfather, Lloyd Campbell; and great-great- grandmothers, June Blevins and Marie Hough.
Services were Thursday, July 5, in the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, with the Revs. Gary Shaw and Linda Blunt officiating. Burial was in Goss Cemetery.

Mary Frances Gardner
Frances was born Aug. 17, 1941, in Cedar Creek, Taney County, MO., to Almus and Cuma (Johnson) Hughey. She was a retired librarian with the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library and was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Miller Lions Club and had spend most of her life in the Miller Area.
She married Gerald “Bullet” Gardner on Nov. 2, 1959, at Round Grove. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Donald L. Gardner, and wife Karen, South Greenfield, and Darryl R. Gardner, and wife Sonja, Ash Grove; one daughter, Kendall K. McTeer, Willard; two brothers, Dennis Hughey, Council Grove, Kan., and A.J. Hughey, Alamosa, Colo.; two sisters, Johnnie Marler and Ollene Hunter, both of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Ami McTeer, Cole Gardner, Jade Gardner, Jordan Gardner, Chelsea McTeer, Lauren Gardner, and Dalton Gardner; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Kelly and Kayden McTeer. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Dalton R. Hughey,.
Services were Saturday, Jan. 27, in Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller, with the Rev. Bob Holman officiating. Burial was in Sycamore Cemetery.
