Nick Edward Abernathy
Nick Edward Abernathy, 22, Mt. Vernon, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, at his home. He was born Jan. 27, 1988, in Pensacola, Fla., to John Abernathy and Jennifer (Harr) Meyer. He was a construction worker and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Heber Springs, Ark.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Jennifer and Alvin Meyer, Mt. Vernon; his father, John Abernathy, Jackson; two brothers, Jarrod Abernathy, Beale Air Force Base, Calif., and Luke Meyer, Republic; two sisters, Marika Meyer, Pryor, Okla., and Riquel Merl, Vinita, Okla; maternal grandmother Betty Harr, Halltown; and paternal step-grandfather Dennis Meyer, Miller.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Harr, and paternal step-grandmother Leota Meyer.
Services were Tuesday, April 13, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon. Burial was in the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.
Patricia Adrienne Adams
Patricia Adrienne Adams, 73, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, in St. John's Hospital. Pat was born Sept. 8, 1935, in Rockford, Ill., the daughter of Paul and Marion (Schrader) Rose.
She was a 1953 graduate of Dakota (Ill) High, secretary for Ingersoll Machine Tool, a member of the snowmobile club and also a mom for all demolition derby teams in Dakota, Ill. Pat moved to Mt. Vernon from Pecatonica, Ill., and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughter, Laurence Lizer of Pecatonica; two sons, Terry Brandenburg of Weatherford, Texas, and Scott Brandenburg of Machesney Park, Ill.; one brother, Merwyn Rose of Monroe, Wis.; four grandchildren; and her special friend, Dean Graves, of Mt. Vernon. her parents and brother Pete Rose preceded her in death.
A memorial service under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, in the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ, with burial in Willwood Cemetery in Rockford, Ill., at a later date.

Steven Neill Allhands
Linda Kay Andrews Alley
Steven Neill Allhands, 51, Billings, formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, due to a heart attack.
Steven was born Dec. 6, 1958, in Monett, the son of Teddie R. and Patricdia E. (Neill) Allhands.
He was a 1977 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and worked as a pipe insulator. He was a member of Pipe Insulator's Union Local #63 in Springfield and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon.
Those surviving him include: his son Hutch Allhands, Mt. Vernon; his mother, Patt Merritt, and her husband, Freeman, Mt. Vernon, his father, Ted Allhands, Marionville; his sister, Tammy Revelle, and her husband, Rick, Springfield; a stepbrother, Fred Merritt, and his wife Sherilyn, Mt. Vernon; six auants, Carole Garoutte and her husband, Bob, and Sherry Estes, and her husband, David, all of Mt. Vernon, Brenda Clayton, and her husband, Jim, and Gloria Murphy, all of Billings, Dixie Clark, Republic, and rosemary Melton, Springfield; five uncles, LaVerne Allhands and his wife, Donna, Springfield, Max Allhands and his wife, Suzanne, Battlefield, Bob Brock and his wife, Barbara Billings, and Bud Allhands and his wife, Linda, Marionville; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of firends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Ome in Mt. Vernon, with burial following in the Marionville IOOF Cemetery.

Linda Kay Andrews Alley
Linda Kay Andrews Alley, 63, Mt. Vernon, died at 8:07 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at St. John's, Springfield.
She was born July 5, 1946, in Springfield to Rodney W. and Opal I. (Allmon) Andrews. She was a 1963 graduate of Roosevelt Hight School in St. Louis, and had lived in Mt. Vernon since 1985. She previously worked as a licensed practical nurse for the Missouri Rehabilitation Center and the Lawrence County Manor. She also worked as a driver for Rising Fenix Trucking Company in Mt. Vernon and Tri-State Trucking Company, retiring in 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Tina Massengill, Ozark; a son, Ken Alley, Monett; her mother, Opal Andrews, Aurora; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rodney Andrews; the father of her children, Troy Paul Alley; a daughter, Leatrice Alley; and a grandson.
Services were Friday, Feb. 19, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Republic.
Helen Andelin
Helen Andelin, 89, Pierce City, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, on the family farm in Pierce City.
She was born May 22, 1920, at Mesa, Ariz., to Herbert Alonzo Berry and Anna May Whiting. She attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah.
She was the author of "Fascinating Womanhood," completed in 1963, a text on marriage advocating a woman's use of feminine traits to awaken the love of her husband.
She received extensive media coverage, including Larry King Live and Barbara Walters appearances.
Her husband, Aubrey Andelin, died June 29, 1999.
Survivors include eight children, Paul Andelin, Aurora, Lane Andelin, Brian Andelin, Dixie Forsyth, Kristine Hales, John Andelin, Virginia Leavitt and Merilee Saunders; one brother, F. Dean Berry, Los Angeles, Calif.; 61 grandchildren; and 101 great-grandchildren.
Services were Thursday, June 18, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in Monett. Burial was in the family cemetery at Pierce City, under direction of Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City.

Dora Louise Arfstrom
Dora Louise Arfstrom - 81, Mt. Vernon, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at Cox South, Springfield.
She was born April 11, 1925, in Monett to Wayman Duke and Lola Pearl Scott Pryor.
She married Alfred Oscar Arfstrom June 30, 1946, in Columbus, Kan. He died April 19, 2000.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Monett.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Johnson, Mt. Vernon, Two brothers, Wayman Pryor, St. Louis and David Pryor, Fort Walton, Fla.; two sisters, Sue Armstrong, Springfield, and Carol Lagalo, Saginaw, Mich.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were Saturday, Feb. 17, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, with Leslie Irving officiating.
Willie Geraldine "Jerry" Atwell
Willie Geraldine "Jerry" Atwell, 83, Mt. Vernon, died at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at her home. She was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Warren, Ark., to Homer and Evelyn (Slay) Tollison.
In her late teens, she learned to be a welder and earned her welding certification. During World War II, she utilized her welding skills building ships for the United States Navy in Long Beach, Calif. In 1979, she moved to Mt. Vernon to start a dairy business.
Survivors include two daughters, Deloris Findley and Dale Russell, both of Covina, Calif.; one brother, Edward Tollison, the Philippines; longtime companion Harry Drummond, Mt. Vernon: four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands Eugene Larsen and Walter Atwell; one sister, Omaline Hutchinson; and one brother, Homer Tollison Jr.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 28, in Oakdale Memorial Park and Mortuary Cemetery in Glendora, Calif. Local arrangements are under direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.

Floyd "Rollo" Barker
Floyd "Rollo" Barker, 89, of Miller, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, in the Missouri Veteran's Home/Mt. Vernon. Rollo was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Greenfield to Oscar E. and Ella (Culver) Barker. He was a 1940 graduate of Miller High School and a World War II Army veteran. After serving in the service, he was owner/operator of Miller school buses, ran a milk route, worked for Piggly Wiggly in Carthage, Blevins Asphalt in Mt. Vernon, and retired in 1985 from MoDot. On March 9, 1946, he was united in marriage with Mildred Yahr in Lockwood. She preceded him in death on Aug. 26, 2009.
Those who survive him are son Larry Barker and wife Judy of Miller; two daughters, Marilyn Dunn of Greenfield and Penny Hoenshell and husband Bob of Webb City; two brothers, Bobby Barker of Willard and Bill Barker of Springfield; sister, Georgia Morris of Springfield; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clifford, Lynn and Junior Barker; and sister Dora Nicholson, preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held in the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home in Miller at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Missouri Veterans' Home/Mt. Vernon, in care of the funeral home.

Emma Lou Bartelsmeyer
Emma Lou Bartelsmeyer, 84, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at the Lawrence County Manor in Mt. Vernon. She was born Dec. 25, 1925, in McDonald County, the daughter of Alfred and Ruth (Shewmake) Land. She was a homemaker and co-owner of a Missouri Century Farm and a member of the Highland Free Methodist Church. She was united in marriage to Joyce Edward Bartelsmeyer Jan. 12, 1946, in Monett, and they spent 61 years together. He preceded her in death Dec. 8, 2007.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and her specialty was her potato rolls. She also loved flowers, especially her many tulips in her yard.
Those who survive her include: daughter Shirley Obermann and her husband, Earl, of Mt. Vernon; son Bob Bartelsmeyer and his wife, Linda, of Las Cruces, N.M.; four grandchildren Robert Obermann and his wife, Tanya, of Mt. Vernon, Shawn Obermann of Gladstone, Jon Bartelsmeyer and his wife, Mellissa, of Rogersville and Krista Cupp and her husband, Cameron, of Centreville, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Shania Obermann of Kansas City, and Justin and Samantha Ely of Neosho; two great-great grandchldren; two sisters, Marjorie Burchett of Bokeelia, Fla., and Joyce Manson of Grass Valley, Calif.; two brothers, Bill Land and his wife; Betty, of Monett and J.D. Land and his wife, Carol, of Auburn, Calif.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a great-granddaughter, Sabrina Obermann; a sister, Mary Helen Dimmick; and three brothers, Paul, Ray Gene and Jack Land.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Aurora Lions Club or Highland Christian Shool in care of the funeral home.

Joyce Edward "J.E." Bartelsmeyer
Joyce Edward "J.E." Bartelsmeyer, 87, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 6:13 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, in Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
He was born Jan. 4, 1920, in Lawrence County to Gustav and Kathryn Elizabeth (Roesslet) Bartelsmeyer. He was a 1939 Mt. Vernon High School graduate, a member of the National Farmers Organization, MFA Corporation, American Agriculture Movement, served on the board of the Mt. Vernon Benefit Road District, served on the board of Maple Grove Cemetery, was a retired dairy and beef farmer, and a member of the Fee Methodist Highland Church, Miller.
On Jan. 12, 1946, he was united in marriage with Emma Lou Land in Monett. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Shirley Obermann, and husband Earl, Mt. Vernon; one son, Bob Bartelsmeyer, and wife Linda, West Palm Beach, Fla; four grandchildren, Robert Obermann and wife Tanya, Mt. Vernon, Shawn Obermann, Kansas City, Jon Bartelsmeyer and wife Melissa, Rogersville, and Krista Bartelsmeyer and fiance' Cameron Cupp, Liberty; and three great-grand children, Shania Obermann, Kansas City, and Justin and Samantha Ely, Neosho.
His parents, three brothers, Leslie, Lincoln and Francis Bartelsmeyer, and one great-granddaughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, in Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. Jerry Huff officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, southwest of Mt. Vernon.

Lorraine Ruth Bartelt
Lorraine Ruth Bartelt, 90, Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, in the Missouri Veterans' Home/Mt. Vernon.
She was born April 7, 1919, in St. Louis to Lillian Bradford and Daniel G. Marting.
She was baptized as an infant into the Evangelical Lutheran Church and confirmed in her teens.
She served as a United States Navy Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service (WAVE) in 1943. She was trained by the Navy to teach blind flying and celestial navigation to Naval navigation to Naval and Marine pilots.
After discharge in 1945, she volunteered as a Red Cross Grey Lady at the Woods, Wis., veteran's facility; Lutheran Women's Missionary League member and officer; local and national Red Cross disaster volunteer; Multiple Sclerosis volunteer; St. John's auxiliary; and many other agencies in Wisconsin, New York, North Carolina and Missouri.
She married Gilmer Bartelt Aug. 13, 1946, in the Bethesda Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, Wis. He survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Larry, and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
Services were Wednesday, June 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Springfield. Burial was in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, under direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield.

Peggy Thornsberry Bartley
Peggy Thornsberry Bartley, age 81, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 2:15, Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at St. John's Hospital, Aurora. She was born July 23, 1928, in Ault, Colo., the daughter of Nelson and Zora (Stephens) Martin. Peggy had lived in the Mt. Vernon community her entire life. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1946. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Mt. Vernon and American Legion Auxillary. Peggy retired from the Missouri Rehabilitation Center after 40 years of service, where she worked as a licensed practical nurse.
Those surviving her include her son, Tom Thornsberry and his wife, Debbie, of Aurora; one grandson, Bryan Thornsberry of Springfield; and one niece, Patti Kruse of Springfield.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Donald Thornsberry; sister Patsy Bidwell; brother Leon Martin; and niece Cylinda Viles.
Graveside services, under direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, were Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery, with the Rev. Jack Daniel officiating.

Burl A. Barton, 76, Mt. Vernon, formerly of Joplin, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Missouri Veerans' Home/Mt. Vernon.
Survivors include his wife, Delores; one son, Steven; and three grandchildren.
He was reired from Community Bank and Trust.
Memorial services were Monday, April 20, at Forest Park Baptist Church, Joplin. Burial will be at a later date.

John D. Bassore, 93, Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at the Missouri Veteran's Home/Mt. Vernon.
He was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Rich Hill.

Alta Mae Baughman
Alta Mae Baughman - 79, Mt. Vernon, died at 7:43 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, in her home.
She was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Osage, Okla.; to Bill and Ellen (Sisson) Hesterly.
She moved to the Mt. Vernon community from Marshfield in 1975. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sonshine Girls and was active in the John Taylor Senior Center, Mt. Vernon.
She married Robert Baughman in Miami, Okla. He died May 12, 1992. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Dale Hesterly.
Survivors include three sons, Mike Rosenkrantz, Seneca, Mark Whatley, Olathe, Kan., and Robert Baughman, Mt. Vernon, one daughter, Deborah Mahoney, Kansas City; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were Friday, March 2, in Fossett-Mosher Funereal Home, Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. Jay Hill officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.

Margaret Katherine Behrends
Margaret Katherine Behrends, 88, Mt Vernon, MO, formerly of Lake Lafayette, died at 7:45 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2010, at St. John's Springfield. She was born March 24, 1922, in Algona, Iowa, to George and Caroline (Wright) Noone.
She was a telephone operator for 22 years and attended the Church on the Loop in Mt. Vernon.
She married LaVerne A. Behrends Dec. 21, 1939, in Algona. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna McBain, Mt. Vernon; one son, Clarence Behrends, Marshall; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and Gregory Behrends; and three brothers, Raymond, LeRoy and Walter Noone.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Veron. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thrusday, June 17, at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Odessa.

Roger W. BerryGraveside services for Roger W. Berry will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, in Ozark Praire Cemetery, north of Mt. Vernon. Attendees are invited to a fellowship luncheon afterward at Ozark Praire "Brick" Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. William Harris will officiate. Fossett-Mosher Fuenral Home, Mt. Vernon, will handle arrangements.
Mr. Berry died Jan. 19, 2009, in Hanover, Pa. He was a former resident of the "Brick" Church community in rural Mt. Vernon.
Dean Othel Biellier
Dean Othel Biellier, 55, Mt. Vernon, died Friday, April 30, 2010, at his home. He was born Nov. 14, 1954, in Springfield to Othel and Joan (Garoutte) Biellier.
He was a 1973 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, and had previously worked as a welder for Country Flame and Transpro.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Dean Biellier, his mother, Joan Biellier, and one brother, Douglas Biellier, all of Mt. Vernon; and three sisters, Linda Richardson, Monett, Janet Kuhl, Dallas, Texas, and Reta Smothers, Mt. Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services were Tuesday, May 4, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon. Burial was in Salem Cemetery, northwest of Mt. Vernon.
Faye Blevins
Faye Blevins, 69, Mt. Vernon, died Friday, June 29, 2007.
She was born Dec. 4, 1937 in Cordell, Okla., to Elmer and Elva Neal.
She married Dale Blevins Dec. 22, 1954. He survives.
Additional survivors include four daughters, Robin Conway, Halltown; and Terri Stokes, Kristy Moore and Shelly Owens, all of Mt. Vernon; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services were held Saturday, June 30.
Mark Anthony Blevins
Mark Anthony Blevins - 29, Mt. Vernon, died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, Aug 2, 2007, in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis.
He was born June 8, 1978, in Springfield to Bill and Rebekah (Swain) Blevins. He was a 1996 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Rebekah and Roger Roberts, Mt. Vernon; his father and stepmother, Bill and Karen Blevins, Carthage; two brothers, Scott Blevins and Tristan Roberts, both of Arizona; maternal grandparents, Art and LaVerna Swain, Mt. Vernon; paternal grandparents, Jack and Norma Blevins, Mt. Vernon; and paternal step-grandparents, Robert and Maxine Waggoner, Carthage.
Services were Tuesday, Aug. 7, in Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. Hubert Conway officiating. Burial was in Ruckman Cemetery, Northeast of Mt. Vernon.

Vina Emily (Cobb) Boucher
Vina Emily (Cobb) Boucher, 101; Mt. Vernon, died at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, in Lawrence county Manor, Mt. Vernon.
She was born in Douglass, Kan., to Joseph and Emma Jessup Cobb. She moved to Missouri in 1979.
She was a rural school teacher for eight years and head cook in the Andover School District for 23 years. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Church of Christ.
She married Charley Boucher April 22, 1933. He died Aug. 10, 1981.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Boucher.
Survivors include four daughters, Loretta Gardner, Halltown, Rosemary Keener, Ringold, Okla., Sharell McGrew, Palm Springs, Calif., and Carol Hoffine, Lenexa, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday, March 23, in Church of Christ, Mt. Vernon, with Ed Pearson officiating. Burial was Tuesday, Marcy 24, in Richland Cemetery, Douglass, with Joe Taylor speaking. Arrangements were under direction of Wilson-Brim-Daniel Funeral Home, Ash Grove.

Tymon James Brown
Tymon James Brown, 81, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at his home.
He was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Bedford to Jesse James and Lula Mae (Lane) Brown. Tymon was a World War II Navy veteran, a retired sawmill owner, a member of the Potosi Elks Lodge and a member of the Round Grove Baptist Church, Miller.
On Aug. 7, 1948, he married Ruth Zillia Middleton in Greenville. She preceded him in death Aug 21, 2006. His parents also preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Lula Faucett, Mt. Vernon; one son, Steven Brown and wife Lida, Potosi; five sisters, Judy Davis and Marge Wheatly, both of Piedmont, Mary Brinkley, Festus, Lola Mae Talley, Wynne, Ark., and Lois Roberts, Arnold; three brothers, Donald Brown, Freemont, Jess Brown, Piedmont, and Roy Brown, Vulcan; four grandchildren, Allison and Kayla Faucett and Michelle and Steven Brown II; great-grandchildren, Austin and Carter Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Friday, Oct. 5, in Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Holman officiating. Burial was in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
Memorial donations may be made to Round Grove Church, in care of the funeral home.
Wendell Gene Brown
Wendell Gene Brown, 80, Mt. Vernon, died at 6:35 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at the Missouri Veterans' Home / Mt. Vernon.
He was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Carthage to William Ellsworth Brown and Julia Eva (Schaller) Brown. He was a 1945 graduate of Carthage Senior High School and attended Missouri State University, Springfield. He served in the united States Army during World War II. He worked as a general clerk for the Missouri Pacific Railroad.
He married Glennadale Ginger Cook March 9, 1950 in Gentry, Ark. She died June 8, 2003.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Don Brown.
Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Brown, Carthage; two sons, Gregory Brown, Lincoln, Neb., and Jeff Brown, Carthage; and one brother, Maynard Brown, Joplin.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Knell Mortuary.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Knell Mortuary Chapel, with Bishop Derek Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.
Anna Joline Buehler
Anna Joline Buehler, age 79, Mt. Vernon, went to be with our Lord on Feb. 14, 2010, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born July 11, 1930, the daughter of William Milton and Florence May (Rice) Rutledge, in Clayton, Okla. She was the sixth child out of seven. In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her brothers, Wayne, Orbin, Gordon and Billy. She is survived by her beloved sister, Fetnah, and brother, Hobart.
She was united in marriage to Chester A. Buehler Nov. 25, 1967, and they spent 42 wonderful years together. She and her husband moved from Arlington, Texas, in 1979 to retire in Mt. Vernon to live near Chester's family, Wilburn, Karen and David Buehler. She is survived by her husband, Chester Buehler, of the home; two children, Linda Genzel and her husband, Timothy, and Charles Kiser; stepdaughter Elaine Thomas and her husband, Bill; granddaughters Teresa Saathoff and her husbnad, Doug, Lynetta Neilson and her husband, Brad, and Melanie Holliday and her husband, Jason; and nine wonderful great-grandchidlrfen, Beau, Sawyer, Sadie, Brucks, Annie, Emily, Jacob, Marcy and Taylor.
Anna Joline was a longtime member of the First Chirstian Church of Mt. Vernon. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be missed by her family and many friends. She was the co-leader of the WOW Friendship Club and enjoyed their meetings and get-toghers with the ladies of the club. She made awesome peanut brittle, and her pickled beets were a favorite with her family. Her great-grandchildren looked forward to going blueberry picking with her each summer. She loved to go shopping for a "little blouse", always looked forward to Apple Butter Makin' Days in Mt. Vernon, and she had the tidiest house in town.
Services, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the First Christian Church in Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans' Cemetery in Springfield. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church, in care of the funeral home.

Karen Louise Buehler
Karen Louise Buehler, 65, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2009, at her home, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
She was born Feb. 12, 1944, in Joplin to Johnnie and Mary (Allgood) Duncan.
Karen was a 1962 graduate of Parkview High School in Springfield. She was formerly employed with Mid Am Cheese Store, working in Mt. Vernon, Aurora and Monett. She farmed with her husband all her married life and was a member of the First Presbysterian Church, Mt. Vernon.
On July 24, 1965, she married Wilburn Buehler in Joplin. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one son, David Buehler and wife Ann, of Mt. Vernon; her mother, Mary Hudson of Sarcoxie; granddaughter, Devin Buehler of Springfield; and several aunts and uncles. Her father preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, in the First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Vernon, with Chaplain Jack Bettis officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Memorial Cemetery, southwest of Mt. Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in care of the funeral home.
