Mildred Ada Youngberg


Mildred Ada Youngberg, 94, Verona, MO, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, in the Aurora Nursing Center, in Aurora.
She was born Sept. 9, 1912, at Zwingle, Iowa, to Raymond and Florence Bradley. She graduated from Alta, Iowa.
She married Edwin Youngberg Aug. 29, 1931. He died April 7, 1976.
She had lived in Verona since 1955. She was a homemaker and a member of the Verona Christian Church for 50 years.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Eugene Youngberg, June 30, 1940, one brother, Bill Bradley, one sister, Blanch Preston, and one grandson.
Survivors include five children, Lyle Youngberg, Verona, Arlene Fields, Billings, Karen Darr, Crane, Anita Viles, Hollister, and Sandra Wright, Stark City; one sister, Margaret Griffel, Sioux City, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday Jan. 6, at the Verona Christian Church under the direction of Peterson Funeral Home, Aurora.
Burial was Monday, Jan. 8, in Fairfield Cemetery, Albert City, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the Verona Christian Church.

William Michael "Mike" Zay
William Michael "Mike" Zay, 68, Aurora, MO, died at 2:38 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at St. John's Springfield.
He was born Dec. 23, 1941, in Springfield to William John and Merry (Waddell) Zay.
He was a 1959 graduate of Parkview High School in Springfield and was a United States Marine veteran. He was the former owner of the Elliott Street Laundromat and Aurora Bowl. He worked as a broker for Century 21 in Aurora, and was a member of the Aurora Lions Club and Aurora United Methodist Church. He was a former councilman for the City of Aurora.
Survivors include Danette Zay of the home; five daughters, Sabra and Angela Zay, Springfield, Ashley Ivkovic, Leawood, Kan., Audrey Koop, St. Louis, and Annalyn Zay, New Orleans, La.; one sister, Elizabeth Zay, Sand Springs, Okla; one brother, Bob Zay, West Hollywood, Calif.; three stepchildren, Alison Perriman, Lecenter, Wash., and Amy Savage and Joshua Barr, Aurora; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lions Club, in care of the funeral home.
Steve Zellers
Steve Zellers, 94, Aurora, MO, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010.  He was born June 23, 1916, in Cassville to Charlie and Ollie Foster Zellers. 
     He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended New Life Fellowship in Crane.  He had served as a deacon of the church since it was founded in 1985.  He served in the United States Army, 1st Infantry Division.  "The Big Red One."  He received eight bronze stars for serving in eight campaigns, including D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge.
     He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Alene Essary Zellers, and one son, Eddie Zellers.
     Survivors include one son, Lonnie Zellers, Aurora; three daughters, Linda Gentry, Marionville, Fayelene Wilks, Hurley, and Donna Bliss, Crane; two sisters, Ethel Bricker, Aurora, and Annie Smith, Marionville; 11 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
     Services were Friday, Sept. 3, in Westtrip Funeral HOme, Crane, Burial was in Mars Hill Cemetery, Crane.
Ella Lois Ziel

Ella Lois Ziel, 92, Aurora, MO, died at 9:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007, in the Aurora Nursing Center.
She was born Feb. 24, 1915, in Henderson, Ky., to George and Mary (Murrell) Cos. She was a retired waitress.
Local survivors include two nephews, Dan Broyles and Jim Love, both of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
No services are planned. Burial was in Fernwood Cemetery, Henderson, under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

George Harry Walker
George Harry Walker, 80, Marionville, MO, died Monday, April 5, 2010, in his home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1929, in Bakersville, Calif., to Harry and Rosie Lee Rowe Walker. He moved from Monterey, Calif., to Marionville with his family when he was 14. He graduated from Marionville High School with the Class of 1948.
He married Patricia Ann Cain Sept. 19, 1952, in Harrison, Ark. She survives.
He worked in the Vaisey-Bristol Shoe Factory in Marionville for 25 years and was a plant foreman for Roscon Pipe Manufacturing Company in Springfield until his retirement. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.
Additional survivors include two sons, George Lee Walker and Jimmy Dee Walker, both of Marionville; three daughters, Rosalea Ellen Hodde, Vandalia, Mary Susan Head, Versallies, and Jacqualyn Ann Manetzke, Aurora; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services were Thursday, April 8, in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel, Marionville. Burial, with military rites, was in the Missouri Veterans' Cemetery, Springfield.
J.R. Wallace
J.R. Wallace, 92, Marionville, died Monday Sept. 3, 2007, in his home.
He was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Red Falls, Minn., to George and Martha Slieght Wallace. He wa a retired shoe factory worker.
Survivors include three sons, Robert and Larry Wallace, both of Marionville, and Howard Wallace, one daughter, Charlene Gastorf, Aurora; and one sister, Mildred Cornman, Monett.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn.
Graveside services were Thursday, Sept. 6, in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, under direction of Peterson Funeral Home, Aurora.
Nell T. Wallace
Nell T. Wallace, 92, Marionville, MO, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, in the Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville. She was born July 22, 1915, in Lebanon to George and Ethel (Burton) Hurt. She retired after 30-plus years as a machine operator for the Juvenile Shoe Company. She married Clayton Wallace May 25, 1935, in Camdenton, he died Dec. 4, 1989. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dorothy; three sisters, Dorothy Hurt, Margaret Farrar and Louise Fulp; and one grandson. Survivors include one son, Charles Wallace, Billings; one daughter, Frieda Wrinkle, Marionville; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.
Hunter Owen Walters
Hunter Owen Walters was stillborn Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Cox Monett. He was the son of Matt and Charena (Kimbler) Walters, Monett.
Survivors include two sisters, Tesia and Tateanna, of the home; paternal grandparents Rick and Marion Walters, Mt. Vernon; maternal grandparents Chuck Kimbler, Mt. Vernon, and Dave and Tawnya Swafford, Verona; paternal great-grandparents Lawrence and Ina Mae Lutz, Mt. Vernon, and
Vivian Walters, Pierce City; and maternal great-grandparents Tom and Mary Ann Carlson, Monett, and Ed and Norma Kimbler, Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Curran and Truitt, paternal grandmother Sharon Staponski Walters and maternal great-grandfather Joseph Walters.
Graveside services were Saturday, Dec. 8, at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Pulaskifield, under direction of Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City.
Earmle E. Watson




Earmle E. Watson, 80, Verona, MO, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, in Cox South, Springfield.
He was born Oct. 26, 1926, to Robert and Golda (Ledgerwood) Watson. He married Ruth Stapleton Sept 11, 1946.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, one son, Lonnie, and one sister, Violet Ann Reed.
Survivors include two brothers, Delmer, Shell Knob, and Wallace, Cassville. He was a Jehovah’s Witness.
Memorial services were Sunday March 2, in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Aurora, with Ken Welsh officiating.


Annette Kay Weatherly


Annette Kay Weatherly, 45, Aurora, MO, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at her residence. She was born March 17, 1961, in Aurora, to Charles Gene Bowling and Joann Cassy Perkins. She married Vincent Alan Weatherly April 27, 1979 at the First Baptist Church in Aurora. She was a secretary at First Independent Bank, Aurora. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1979.
Survivors include two sons, Regan Weatherly, Liberal, and Michael “Trent” Weatherly, Columbia, two brothers Richard Bowling, Pryor, Okla, and Dr. Brett Bowling, Monett; her father, Gene and his wife, Delphia Bowling, Freistatt and her grandmother, Clala Bowling, Aurora, and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Gary Gene Bowling and a grandparent.
Services were Tuesday, Jan. 16, in First Baptist Church, Aurora, with David Martin officiating. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Aurora Future Farmers of America, in care of the funeral home.


Lee Charles Weekes
Lee Charles Weekes, 82, Verona, MO, died at 5:49 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007, in his home.
He was born Oct. 13, 1924, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Charles and Rose (Detrich) Weekes.
He retired from McCune Brooks Hospital in Carthage, where he worked as a registered nurse. He was a United States Navy Veteran and served in World War II, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, Verona.
He married Delsa Green Nov. 18, 1948, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Randall Lee Weekes, Cedar City, Utah, Harold Mark Weekes, Clearfield, Utah, and Linden Paul Weekes, Saratoga Springs, Utah; two daughters, DeAnna Chaffin, Verona, ,and Arlaine Bell, Willard; two brothers, Cleve George Weekes, Blackfoot, Idaho, Larry Blair Weekes, Archer, Idaho; one sister, Marie Munns, Archer; 34 grandchldren; and 50 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rose Anna Weekes; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, in the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, Verona, with burial in Sutton Cemetery, Archer, on Saturday, June 23. Local arrangements are under direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.
Fern Irene (Bradley) Wells



Fern Irene (Bradley) Wells, 88, Marionville, MO, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009.
She was born May 25, 1920, in Barry County.
She married Hubert F. Wells Aug. 10, 1938. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Earl D., and a grandson.
She was a member of Buck Prairie Baptist Church for 65 years, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Blevins and Peggy Fitzpatrick; three sons, Charles Wells, Bob Wells and Curtis Wells; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Buck Prairie Baptist Church, Marionville. Burial will be in Marionville IOOF Cemetery, under direction of Williams Funeral Home, Marionville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Buck Prairie Church building fund or the American Cancer Society.


Jerry Lee Wells



Jerry Lee Wells, 52, Aurora, MO, died Monday, March 19, 2007, in his home. He was born Nov. 14, 1954, in Stone County to Silas and Betty (Curbow) Wells.
He had been a lifelong resident of the Stone and Barry county area, where he had worked as an auto mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Betty; his stepfather, Emerson Wright; and one brother, Gary Wells.
Survivors include three sisters, Linda Wheeler, Reeds Spring, and Nancy Howard and Cathy Branstetter, both of Crane; and one brother, Carroll Wells, Crane.
Services were Thursday, March 22, in Westrip Funeral Home, Crane. Burial was in Nolan Cemetery, Galena.

Rose Elizabeth West



Rose Elizabeth West, 96, Miller, MO, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2007, in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Dec. 29, 1910, in Mindenmines to George “Ben” and Ethel Mae (Enke) Kale. When Rose was 3 years old, her mother married John David Stirewalt. She was raised by them. She was a homemaker and helped Raymond farm. Rose loved gardens and growing them year round in her greenhouse. She was a member of the Red Oak Quilting Club and a 4-H leader. Rose attended Round Grove Baptist Church.
She married Raymond Louis West Sept. 15, 1936, in Mt. Vernon. They were married 51 years when he preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1987.
Survivors include one son, Monty West and wife, Jan, Miller; two sisters, Muriel Pennington, Sarcoxie, and Betty Carnes, Carthage, two brothers, Harold Stirewalt, Moss Point, Miss., and Clyde Stirewalt, Diamond; three grandchildren, Kimberly Rinker and husband, Dwight, and Kristy Prater and husband Chris, all of Mt. Vernon, and Monty West III, Miller; three step grandchildren, Brent Wilson, Willmar, Minn., Brian Wilson, Springfield, and Jennifer Miller, Mt. Vernon; three great-grandchildren, Drew and Whitney Rinker and Jared Prater; five step-great-grandchildren, Jelani and Pyper Miller, Kaylie and Cole Wilson and Maddie Huff; and several nieces and nephews.
Her paretns and 10 brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Services were Sunday, April 15, at Round Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Holman officiating. Burial was in Goss Cemetery at Phelps, under the direction of Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller

Brenda Sue White
Brenda Sue White, 56, Aurora, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, in Ozark Mountain Regional Health Care Center, Crane.
She was born Aug. 17, 1952, in DeSoto to Emma Lorraine (Politte) Warren. She graduated from high school in DeSoto and worked a numnber of years for the DeSoto Shoe Company. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Shell Knob.
She was preceded in death by her mother, and one brother, Kenneth.
Survivors include one son, Todd Harmon, St. Louis; two brothers, John Warren, Pevely, and David Long, Republic; and one sister, Sandra Hahn, Galena.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in Holy Family Catholic Church, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Fuenral Home, Shell Knob.
Coleen Walker White
Coleen Walker White, 44, Aurora, died at 8:24 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007, in St. John's Springfield.
She was born March 30, 1963, in Aurora to Fred and Beverly Walker.
Survivors include two daughters, Aranessa White and Emily Journagan, both of Springfield; her mother, Beverly Brown Walker; three sisters, Marilyn "Toni" Henry, Springfield, Cindy Elliott, Aurora, and Connie Arnsmeyer, Marionville; and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Henry Walker, and her grandmother, Millie Brown.
Services were Friday, June 1, in the Williams Fuenral Chapel, Marionville. Burial was in the Marionville IOOF Cemetery.
Frances Lee White



Frances Lee White, 93, Aurora, died at 7:47 a.m. Friday, Aug 3, 2007, in the Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville.
She was born Nov. 8, 1913, in Aurora to John and Nellie (Willis) Kittrell.
She lived in the Aurora community most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
She married Winfield “Cottey” White June 24, 1931, he died May 22, 1994. She was also preceded in death by one son, Bob White; one great-grandson, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Marlene Calico, and one son, Jack White, both of Aurora; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday, Aug. 6, in Maple Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Lee Parson officiating, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.


Thelma Marie (Colestock) White
Thelma Marie (Colestock) White, 83, Halltown, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, in the Maples Nursing Home, Springfield.
She was born July 7, 1926, in Rush County, Ind., to Raymon Lee and Wilma (Bowles) Colestock. She married Jerry E. White April 21, 1953. He survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter,Anne Roth, Washington; one sister, Marjorie Siders, Rushville, Ind.; and two grandsons.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty June Boyd; and one brother, Norman Colestock.
After graduating from Arlington (Ind.) High School, she attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary, Cincinnati, Ohio, for two years. She transferred to Ozark Christian College, Joplin, where she received a bahelor's degree. She attended graduate school at Fort Hays Kansas State College, Hays, Kan., Missouri State University, Springfield, Central Missouri State College, Warrensburg, University of Missouri-Columbia, and Southeast Missouri State College, Cape Giradeau. While a student at Ozark Christian College, she served as a representative of the college by singing for revivals in churches and Christian service camps. After her marriage, she continued to use her musical abilities as the wife of a minister. They traveled to churches throughout the state in the late 1960's to raise support for the establishment of Show-Me Christian Home.
Mrs. White taught for 24 years, teaching English in three school districts, and was school librarian in two districts. After retiring, she owned and operated Whitehall Mercantile on Route 66 in Halltown. She was a founding member of the Route 66 Asssociation of Missouri.
Services were Saturday, April 17, in the Halltown Chirstian Church, Halltown, under direction of Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield.
Memorials may be made to Alpha Chirstian Children's Home, P.O. Box 727, Perry, KS 66073-0727.
Ina Mae Whitehead
Ina Mae Whitehead, 81, Ash Grove, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, in St. John's Springfield, following a short illness.
She was born south of Halltown in Lawrence County to Walter and Lela (Galloway) Johnson. She was a lifelong area resident.
She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School, attended Missouri State Teachers College (Missouri State University), and taught school in one-room schools. She was a memer of Ash Grove Assembly of God Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She married R. Conley Whitehead Sept. 21, 1950. He died Oct. 29, 2005.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Farron Dale, April 16, 1964; two brothers, Mel and Victor Johnson; and three sisters, Grace Garner, Rosetta Carr and Vivian Pyle.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Whitehead, Ash Grove, and Dane Whitehead, Bois D'Arc; two daughters, Reba Long, Walnut Grove, and Christina Jett, Ash Grove; one brother, Ivan Johnson, Marionville; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, Sept. 15, in Ash Grove Assembly of God Church, with the Revs. Don Miller and Carl Long officiating. Burial was in Ash Grove Cemetery, under direction of Wilson-Brim-Daniel Funeral Home, Ash Grove.
Bob Wiles
Bob Wiles of Marionville passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, following a sudden illness, on his 86th birthday.
He was born Sept. 21, 1921, to Elmer and Maggie Wiles and was a lifelong resident of Marionville, graduating high school in 1939.
Bob married Sarah Darby on April 11, 1957, and she preceded him in death this past April 14. They were best known for their partnership in the operation of Wiles Orchard. Many will remember the unique flavor of Bob's homemade apple cider and the taste of his old-fashioned Jonathan apples. He was also a retired clerk from the Marionville Post Office.
Bob was active in Republican Party politics, having served as committeeman from the South Buck Prarie Township. He was also a longtime member of the Marionville Chapter of the International Order of Odd Fellows and was the organization's secretary - treasurer at the time of his passing.
Bob is survived by a son, Mike, wife, Carmen, and granddaughters Bailey, Jessa and Reagan, of Ozark; a sister-in-law, Florence Darby; niece Carol Bangle and husband Larry; and nephew, Bud Darby and wife Linda, all of Marionville. He is also survived by first cousins Reid Wiles and Nellie Jo Reynolds of Springfield, Jane Ann and Gale Pate of Aurora, Jane Moult of Joplin, and Larry and Sherry Wiles of Billings. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law and an infant son.
Services were Monday, Sept. 24, in First United Methodist Curch, Marionville. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Marionville, under direction of William Funeral Home, Marionville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church or Marionville Cemetery Association in Bob's honor.
Sarah Ann Wiles



Sarah Ann Wiles, 81, Marionville, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2007, after a short illness.
She was born Nov. 7, 1925, to Faye and Ira Darby and was a lifelong resident of Marionville, graduating high school there in 1943.
Sarah married Bob Wiles in 1957 and was best known for her partnership with him in the operation of Wiles Orchard. Her enthusiasm for her work and love for their customers will be remembered by many in the area. She loved playing with and reading stories to her grandkids. The family will greatly miss her applesauce and strawberry shortcake.
A lifelong Republican, Sarah was elected committee woman from the South Buck Prairie Township in 1956 and has been reelected to that post continually until her passing. She has also served as Republican Centeral Committee. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and secretary of the Marionville Cemetery Association.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, her parents and two brothers.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Bob; son Mike and wife, Carmen, and granddaughters, Jessa, Bailey and Reagan, all of Ozark; and sister-in-law, Florence Darby, niece Carol Bangle and husband, Larry, and nephew Bud Darby and wife, Linda, all of Marionville.
Services were Tuesday, April 17, at First United Methodist Church, Marionville. Burial was in Marionville IOOF Cemetery, under the direction of Williams Funeral Home, Marionville.

Lillian "Doris" Williams
Lillian "Doris" Williams, 85, Lockwood, died at 12 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Lockwood.
She was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Lawrence County to Virgil L. and Elise E. (Evatt) Pendleton. She was a member of the Round Grove Baptist Church, Miller.
She married Willie Hollis Williams April 16, 1941, in Ash Grove. He died April 26, 1977.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Williams, Branson West, and Bruce Williams, Miller; one sister, Lucille Simpson, Miller; one brother, Melvin Pendleton, Miller; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Bud Pendleton; two sisters, Regina Baldwin and Oma Pendleton; and one great-grandson.
Services were Friday, Aug. 28, in Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller. Burial was in Miller Memorial Gardens.

Jesse T. Willis, 79, Monett, died Friday, May 4, 2007, at Lacoba Nursing Home, Monett.
He was born June 20, 1927, in Shelbyville, Tenn., to Thomnas Edwin and Ada Coker Willis.
He married Barbara Roody Willis May 26, 1955, in Gold Beach, Ore., She survives.
He was a missionary minister and a member of the 9th Street Church of Christ in Monett. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.

Bobby Jean Wilson
Bobby Gene Wilson, 70, Marionville, died at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, in his home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1936, in Galena to Marshall Venus and Florence Letha Greenway Wilson.
He was married to the former Donna Ree Kerns.
He was a member of Union Grove Church and a carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Donna; four daughters, Debra Klinge, Marionville, Terri Jean Wood, Springfield, Regina Wilson and Cathy Hubbard, Kansas; two sons, Robert Wilson, Las Vegas, Nev., and Larry Wilson, Jenkins; two brothers, Jack Wilson, Galena, and Earl Wilson, Springfield; three sisters Fay Matney, Nixa, Clyime Bowling, Crane, and Evelyn Latton; Aurora; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, John Wilson. Services were Thursday, Nov. 15, in Williams Funeral Chapel, Marionville, with the Rev. Brian Cooke officiating. Burial was in the Marionville IOOF Cemetery.
Earnesteen Jenkins Wilson
Earnesteen Jenkins Wilson, 89, Marionville, died at 5:32 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at the Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville.
She was born Nov. 2, 1919, in Stone County to Sam Virgil and Vennie White Jenkins.
She married Jess Robert Wilson, he died May 30, 2001. Among those preceding her in death were a grandson and great-granddaughter.
Survivors include one son, Wayne Scott, Brown Springs; one grandaughter; five great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday, June 29, in Williams Funeral Home Chapel, Marionville, with the Rev. Bryan Cook officiating. Burial was in Marionville IOOF Cemetery.
Mary Lee Crumpley Wilson
Mary Lee Crumpley Wilson, 68, Marionville, died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in her home.
She was born Sept. 14, 1941, in Marionville to John Wesley and Carmine Celia Pearce Crumpley.
She married Ray Wilson June 30, 1961. He survives.
She graduated with the Class of 1959 from Marionville High School. She was a member of the Pierson Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served as an elder for many years. She was also a teacher's aide and bus driver for the Greene Valley State School and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Carmine Crumpley.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Marla Shuler, Clever, and Melissa Bowman, Diamond; three siblings, Mearleen Barnett, Clever, Bill Crumpley, Willard, and Janice Bluebaum, Billings; and four grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, April 3, in the Pierson Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Bradfield, with the Rev. Duncan Clyne officiating. Burial was in the Charity Cemetery at Bradfield, under direction of Williams Funeral Home, Marionville.
Tami Wilson
Tami Wilson, 49, Aurora, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, in St. John's Springfield.
She was born Nov. 4, 1960, in Aurora to Earl and Jettie Bowling Seitz. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her father, Earl Bowling; two sons, Bryce Powell, Hurley, and Brent Wilson, Aurora; and one daughter, Shonda Wilson, Aurora.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, in the Elm Branch Christian Church, Aurora, under direction of Peterson Fuenral Chapel, Aurora.
Betty L. Wolf
Betty L. Wolf, 82, Verona, died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Aurora Nursing Center, Aurora.
She was born Oct. 16, 1926, in Monett to Troy Anthony and Alice Elwell Anderson. She was a nurse for Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett for 18 years and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, north of Monett.
She married Carl Wolf Dec. 25, 1944, in Billings. He died Feb. 19, 1993.
Survivors include three sons, Rick Wolf, Verona, Danny Wolf, Bolivar, and Randy Wolf, Tulsa, Okla.; three daughters, Renee McKinley, Aurora, Anita Perry, Columbus, Kan., and Mitzi Riley, Fort Scott, Kan.; one sister, Bonnie Wiseley, Raytown; and 67 grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Wolf.
Services were Monday, June 8, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.

Ruth Ann Wood
Ruth Ann Wood, 72, Aurora, died at 1:45 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at St. John's Springfield. She was born Oct. 6, 1937, in Perryville to Sylvester and Laura (Guyot) Unterreiner. She was a 1953 graduate of St. Vincent De Paul High School in Perryville.
She worked as a clerk for the Aurora Lumber Company and later as a secretary for State Farm Insurance in Aurora. She was a member of the OQC Quilters Club in Cassville, the Aurora Quilters Club and the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she was also a member.
She married Joseph Earl Wood in Perryville April 14, 1956. He survives.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Jan Baker and Lori Wallace, both of Aurora, and Joyce Stribling, Webb City; one sister, Dorothy Fleugle, Perryville; two brothers, David Unterreiner and Tom Unterreiner, both of Perryville; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Unterreiner.
Funeral Mass was Tuesday, May 11, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Aurora. Burial was at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Aurora.

Nora Agnes Worm
Nora Agness Worm, 92, Verona, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007. She was born May 22, 1915, in Meinert to Walter and Anna Kluhsmann Joeckel. She married Ernest Phillip Worm Dec. 6, 1936, in Meinert. He died April 16, 1957. She was a homemaker and retired dietician at St. Vincent's Hospital, Monett. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Freistatt, and the Dorcas Ladies Aid. Survivors include one son, Martin Worm, Verona; two daughters, Frances Scates, Joplin, and Marcell Mitchell, Springfield, one brother, Delbert Joeckel, Venis, Fla.; four sisters, Edna Probert, Lockwood, Dorothy Brewer, Oklahoma, and Ester Stout and Elda Farmer, both of Carthage; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Services were Saturday, Oct. 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Freistatt, with Wilbur Claude officiating. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, under direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethesda Lutheran Children's Home.
Edna D. Williams, 95, Verona, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at Cox Monett after a short illness.
She was born Oct. 26, 1911, in Verona to Thomas and Martha (Bennett) Marbut.
She was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church, Purdy. She married Lawrence J. Williams Dec. 23, 1946. He died in 1998.
Survivors include three sons, Donald Williams and ronald Williams, both of Verona, and Edward Winans, Springfield; one sister, Bernece Coulter, Marionville; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha E. Allen, in 1961.
Services were Friday, April 6, at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett, with the Rev. Lee Neil officiating. Burial was in Calton Cemetery, Verona.
Memorials may be made to the Calton Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 20, 1933, in Jasper County, MO., to John Otis and Ada Marie (Richards) Chandler.
Ada Marie was a Mt. Vernon High School graduate and a member of the Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon and also attended First Baptist in Stotts City. She married Harold Wendler on Aug. 14, 1951, in Eureka Springs, Ark. He survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Peggy Gibson and husband, Jeff, Mt. Vernon; two sons, Jerry Wendler and wife, Julie, Aurora, and Kenneth Wendler and wife, Stephanie, Bentonville, Ark.; five grandchildren, Kevin Wendler and Jeff Gibson, Mt. Vernon, Jill Wendler, Aurora, Shelena and Dawn Wendler, Bentonville; and two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Julia Wendler. Her parents and a daughter Sherry Wendler, preceded her in death.

Ethel "Alvina" Vacca
Ethel "Alvina" Vacca, 92, Aurora, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, in the Aurora Nursing Center.
She was born May 22, 1915, in Syracuse, Neb., to Oscar and Myrtle (Wiles) Kuenning.
Alvina worked as a bookkeeper for the family trucking company and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Vernon. Alvina and her husband lived in various communities including Humansville, where she worked in the office of the Humansville Senior Center and was active in the Humansville United Methodist Church, as well.
On Sept. 22, 1934, she married Hobart Morris Vacca. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1980.
He parents, granddaughter, Charlotte Johnson, three brothers, Warren, David and Maynard Kuenning and sister Shirley Kuenning also preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughter, Wilma Wood and husband, Jerry, Mt. Vernon; son, Donald Vacca, Monett; granddaughter, Cheryl Sisco and husband, Charley, Chardwick; three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jeremy Sisco and Zachary Johnson; three brothers, Melvin Kuenning and wife, Irene, Syracuse, Neb., Harold Kuenning, Lincoln, Neb., Wilbur Kuenning and wife Doris, Imperial, Neb.; four sisters, Erma Semiers, Plattsmouth, Neb., Myldred Dettmer and husband, Harvey, Syracuse, Arvilla Noerrlinger, Beatrice, Neb., and Betty Wallen and husband, Glen, Unadilla, Neb.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in Fossett-Mosher Fuenral HOme, Mt. Vernon, with the Revs. Chris Snyder and Lois Green officiating. Burial will follow in Goss Cemetery, northwest of Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Fossett-Mosher Chapel.

Charles Van Alstine, 79, Aurora, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, in his home.
He was born Jan. 19, 1928, in Greely, Colo., to Clarence and Geogia Miller Van Alstine. He was a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Van Alstine, Marionville; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen; and one granddaughter.
Memorial services will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, in Heritage Harmony House. Cremation is under the care of Peterson Funeral Home, Aurora.

Ruth A. Vanderhoof, 82, Marionville, died Monday, May 13, 2007, in her home.She was born March 16, 1925, in Gravity, Iowa, to George and Minnie (Perigo) O’Neal.She was a clerk at the Byron E. Taylor Service Center. She had formerly worked for the Marionville Schools. Tyson’s and Crane Manufacturing Co. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women’s Auxiliary in Aurora.Survivors include three daughters, Linda Lawson, Aurora, and Delores Norman and Loraine Willhite, both of Marionville; one brother, George O’Neal Jr., San Angelo, Texas; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.She was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Eugene; and two brothers, Charles and Kenneth O’Neal.Services were Thursday, May 17, in Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora, with the Rev. Arhart Veith

Arhart Veith, 96, Monett, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, in Monett Health Care Center. He was born May 13, 1913, in Hoberg to Louis and Louise (Rahmoeller) Veith. He married Louise Julia Weihe Sept. 4, 1947, in Mt. Vernon. She survives. After graduating from Mt. Vernon High School, he attended summer sessions at Joplin Junior College (Missouri Southern State University). He taught in rural elementary schools in Lawrence County. From 1948 until his retirement in 1978, he was a field representative for Monett Producers Creamery, which is now Dairy Farmers of America. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Monett, since 1948. Additional survivors include two daughters, Helen Tauchen, Chapel Hill, N.C. and Marilyn Lederer, Leawood, Kan,.; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, in First United Methodist Church, Monett, with the Rev. Cliff Crocket officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery, north of Monett, under direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Monett High School Veith College Scholarship for students in the health sciences.


Maxine S. (Shipman) Vincent
Maxine S. (Shipman) Vincent, 70, Aurora, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in the Aurora Nursing Center.
She was born Sept. 1, 1920, in Aurora to Noah Ray and Gladys (Woodford) Shipman. She was a 1938 Aurora High School graduate and she worked for a decade in Hollywood before moving to the Virgin Islands for a number of years, finally returning to Aurora.
She worked as a medical transcriptionist for the Missouri Rehabilitation Center, Mt. Vernon, until her retirement. She was an active member and Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution Elkhorn Chapter, Ladies Saturday Club, Westminster Circle and the First Presbyterian Church, Aurora.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Vincent; and two brothers, Capt. James L. Shipman Sr. and Bobbie Joe Shipman.
Services were Saturday, April 18, in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial was in Orange Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.
Elizabeth "Betty" (Fairall) Vinton
Elizabeth "Betty" (Fairall) Vinton, 88, Marionville, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, in the Ozarks Methodist Manor.
She was born in Pittsburgh, Penn., to Richard and Mary (Veldenzer) Fairall and graduated from Mount Lebanon High School and the University of Pittsburgh, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She served as a Navy Wave from 1943 until 1946, attaining the rank of lieutenant. She was a member and former chairman of the Ladies of the Supreme Council Valley of Pittsburgh.
She married Harry A. Vinton July 22, 1947. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Douglass; one son, Richard Vinton; and three grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date in Missouri Veterans' Cemetery under direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral HOme, Springfield.

Ella Dean Volkl, 73, Monett, died at 10:55 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2007, at Lacoba Nursing Home, Monett, after a long illness.She was born March 2, 1933, in Verona to Arthur and Esther (Brandy) Peterson.She was a former owner of Dairy Queen in Mt. Vernon. She married Carl Volkl Dec. 21, 1973, in Joplin. He died in 2000. Survivors include three sons, Stanley Holle, Cassville, Larry Holle, Monett, and Ricky Holle, Mt. Vernon; one daughter Glenda Enlow, Aurora; two stepsons, Charlie Volkl, Stotts City and Joe Volkl, Los Angeles, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Mary Robertson, Republic, and Ann Davidson; two brothers, Darrell Peterson, Pottsborough, Texas, and Howard Peterson, Monett and two sisters, Mary Couch, California, and Imogene Blaylock, Monett.She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur Petrson, Edgar Petrson and John Petrson; one sister, Orba Finney; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Theodore Martin Tanner
Theodore Martin Tanner, 84, Aurora, MO, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at the Aurora Nursing Center.
He was born July 16, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., to Theodore and Alfhilda (Larsen) Tanner. He was a World War II United States Navy veteran and also served in the Marine Reserves. He also formed the first police comminssion in Addison, Ill.
He married Mary Alice McDaniel Aug. s5, 1951, in Harrisburg, Ill. She survives.
He and his wife owned and operated a decorating store in Addison, retiring in 2000.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Julia Culver, Susan Carlson and Laurie Larson; one son, Theodore Murray Tanner; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Johanna.
Graveside services, with full military honors, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.
Bret Alan Taylor
Bret Alan Taylor, 49, Miller, MO, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, in his residence.
He was born April 7, 1958, in San Fernando, Calif., to J.W. and Betty Lee (Snow) Taylor. He was a 1976 graduate of Miller High School. He was a body builder, having owned his own health club, worked for the department of revenue, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Air Borne Express, both in Springfield and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Alan Taylor and Colton Jay Taylor, both of Mt. Vernon, one brother, Rick Taylor, Miller; two grandchildren; and his fiancee, Sheila Benson, Miller.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, in Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon. Burial will be in Miesmer Cemetery, east of Miller.
J.W. Taylor
J.W. Taylor, 80, Miller, MO, died at 9:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, in cox South, Springfield.
He was born Sept. 12, 1927, at Cherry Mansion, north of Mt. Vernon, to A.C. and Josephine A. (Hackworth) Taylor.
He worked as a construction operating engineer and was an equipment operator for Lawrence County Road District. He also served as a reserve officer for Lawrence County Sheriff's Office. He was a United States Army veteran and attended Faith Worship Center.
He married Betty Lee (Snow) Taylor Oct. 14, 1951, in Rogers, Ark. She died Sept. 3, 2000.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Genevieve Taylor.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Taylor, Miller, and Brett Taylor, Mt. Vernon; one sister, Kay Perriman, Miller; and three brothers, Bill and Bob Taylor, both of Miller, and Brad Taylor, Cle Elum, Wash.
Services were Monday, Nov. 12 in Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon. Burial was in Misemer Cemetery, east of Miller.
Logie A. Teague


Logie A. Teague - 91, Marionville, MO, Died Saturday Nov. 15, 2008.
She was born April 1, 1917, to Nathan and Sarah Slaughter. She was a longtime beautician in Marionville and Crane.
She and her husband, Howard lived in Clever prior to his death.
She had lived the last few years at the Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Finis Stelle, three sisters, two brothers, three half-sisters and a grandson.
Survivors include one son, Chester Steele, Highlandville; one daughter, Sharon Cannedy, Clever; three brothers, Zeb, Dwight and Guy Slaughter: three sisters, Alice Pearce, Opallean Taylor and Myrtle Lee Rice, three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Services were Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with Chaplain Jack Betts officiating. Burial was in Smart Cemetery, Between Clever and Billings.



Odette Carol Terry

Odette Carol Terry, 40, Verona, MO, died Saturday April 14, 2007, at Cox Monett.
She was born June 4, 1966, in Seminole, Okla., to Darrell and Betty Evetta Park Jones. She was a homemaker.
She married Sean Terry April 18, 1997, in Fayetteville, Ark, he survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Jewell Hillard, Verona, one son, Kevin King Jr., Fayetteville; one sister Amberlynn Ellis, Fort Riley, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.

Artie Z. Thompson
Artie Z. Thompson, 95, Marionville, MO, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at the Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville. She worked from her home drapery shop for many years after retiring from Vaisey-Bristol Shoes in 1974. She was born Feb. 5, 1912, in Omaha, Ark., to William and Pearl (Hammonds) Talley. She was a member of the Marionville First Christian Church, the Leona Rebekah Lodge and Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.E. (Judge) Thompson; one son, Bobby Gene Thompson; four brothers, Virgil, Cleo, Charley and Eddie; one sister, Hayward. Survivors include one daughter, Lois Logan, Marionville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were Tuesday, Aug. 28, in Williams Funeral Home, Marionville.
Marjorie "Ilene" Thurman
Marjorie "Ilene" Thurman, 78, Aurora, MO, passed away peacefully at 12 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at St. John's Hospital, Aurora, surrounded by her family. Ilene was born April 6, 1929, in Jenkins to Admiral Dewey and Carrie (Bolin) Eubanks. She worked for Dr. T.A. Morrison for many years before retiring from the Aurora Community Hospital after 26 years of service. Ilene was a talented seamstress and enjoyed spending her free time playing cards with her friends and spending time with her family. She was a member of Aurora Church of Christ. On Aug. 17, 1945, she married Jack Richard Thurman. He died Feb. 19, 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Lorene (Eubanks) Friend, three brothers, Orville Eugene Eubanks, Jack W. Eubanks and Ray Loy Eubanks, and her son-in-law, David Walker. She will be greatly missed by her brother, Nichols James (N.J.) Eubanks and wife Dianne; son Richard Thurman and wife Diana; daughter Tonwya Walker; granddaughters, Summer Collier and husband Thomas, and Hollie Rathmann; great-grandson Cole David Collier; and a host of friends. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the Aurora Church of Christ, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Patricia Todd, 70, Vernona, MO, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at St. John's Springfield. She was born July 1, 1939, to Eugene Calhoon and Mary Schaffer of West Plains. She married Vann Todd April 7, 1972. He survives. She graduated from Colorado Springs, Colo., business college in January 1987. Additional survivors include one son, Brett Walters, and one daughter, Linda Carr, both of Verona; her mother, Mary Calhoon; one sister, Ruth Collins, Dora; one brother, Orville Dean Calhoon, Lawrence, Kan,; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Dick Calhoon. Services were Friday, Aug. 7, at the Verona Baptist Church with Pastor Lendall Morris officiating, under direction of Peterson Funeral Home, Aurora.
Donald A. Tollison
Donald A. Tollison, 58, Marionville, MO, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville. He was born Oct. 24, 1949, in Florence, Ariz., to Jack and Elizabeth Tollison. He was a Vietnam veteran and a member of Assembly of God, Billings. Survivors include his wife, Linda Tollison; two sons, Donnie Tollison and Eddie Popovits; four daughters, Brandy Tollison, Michelle Holmes, Vickie Tollison and Teddie Keithley; 4-year-old Hannah Marie Tollison; one brother, Ronnie; and two sisters, Louise and Diane; and 11 grandchildren. Services were Thursday, Dec. 20, at Greenlawn East, Springfield. Burial was in the Missouri Veterans' Cemetery, Springfield.
John Charles Torbett


John Charles Torbett, 89, Aurora, MO, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Aurora Nursing Center.
He was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Stone County to Jesse and Ursala Torbett.
He was a plumber and heating and air man.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; four sons, J. Phillip Torbett, Mt. Vernon, Roger Brent Torbett, San Diego, Calif., Bob Torbett, Aurora, and Jim Torbett, Marionville; one brother Fritz Torbett, Aurora; one sister, Evelyn Rahn, Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Ella Mae Tunnell

Ella Mae Tunnell, 73, Aurora, MO, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007, in the Monett Health Care Center.
She was born Aug. 20, 1933 in Aurora, MO to Guy “Doc” and Dorothy (Boraker) Tunnell.
She lived in the Lawrence County community her entire life and attended the Faith Full Gospel Church and the Baptist Temple.
Survivors include one brother, William “Boots” Tunnell, Mt. Vernon.
She donated her body to science. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday May 20, at Faith Full Gospel Church, Aurora, with Robert Allman officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

Lester Paul turner, 66, Sarcoxie, MO, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at St. John's, Joplin.

Sean William Anders Saaf
Sean William Anders Saaf, 19, Mt. Vernon, died at 8:55 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
He was born Jan. 26, 1991, in Boras, Sweeden, to Tomas and Tammy (Spurlock) Saaf. He was a 2009 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, was a volunteer fire fighter for the City of Aurora Fire Department and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mt. Vernon.
Survivors include his mother, Tammy Saaf, Mt. Vernon; his father, Thomas Saaf, Monett; maternal grandparents Bill and Clara Spurlock, Mt. Vernon; paternal grandparents Par-Anders and Anita Saaf, Skovde, Sweeden; and paternal great-grandmother Elsa Persson, Skovde.
Services were Thursday, Feb. 11, in Grace Community Church, east of Mt. Vernon. Burial was in Orange Cemetery, north of Aurora.
Judy D. Sanders
Judy D. Sanders, 64, Lockwood, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, in St. John's, Springfield.
She was born March 1, 1943, in Springfield to Dean and Marie Medley. She was a nurse and worked at Dade County Hospital, Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, and after retirement, with Oxford Home Health.
Survivors include two daughters, Crystal Yocum and Tracy Richardson; two brothers, Robert Medley and Gary Medley; one sister, Karen Medley; and four grandchildren.
Services were Monday, Nov. 12, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield. Burial was in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller.
Loree Sanders

Loree Sanders, 97, Miller, died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, in Cox South, Springfield. She was born Aug. 31, 1909, in Dade County to Curtis and Minnie (Scott) Jones.
She married Elton Sanders.
She ran a small store and gas station on Highway 39 between Miller and South Greenfield for many years. She was a member of the Miller Christian Church.
She volunteered as a foster grandmother at the then Missouri State Chest Hospital in Mt. Vernon for more than 15 years after her husband’s death.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Marjorie Evans, and one son, Weldon Sanders.
Survivors include one daughter, Juanita Dailey, DeRidder, La., and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Fuernal Home, Miller, with Pastor Walter Howrey officiating. Burial was in Pennsboro Cemetery, South Greenfield.


Howard Raymond Sater

Howard Raymond Sater, 82, Miller, died at 12:51 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 27, 2009, in his home.
He was born July 17, 1926, in Round Grove to James R. and Bertha L. (Cagle) Sater.
He was a 1943 graduate of Miller High School and received his master’s degree from University of Missouri-Columbia. He taught in Miller, Purdy and Greenfield schools, retiring in 1980 after teaching for 31 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church in Marshall.
He married Mary A. Glasscock June 1, 1950, in Miller, She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Marcia Sater, Marshall, and Jana Standfast, Miller; one sister, Mary Lou Garton, Olathe, Kan.; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Don Sater.
Services were Saturday, Jan. 31, in Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller. Burial, with full military honors, was in Miller Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion or Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Miller, in care of the funeral home.
Lisa Michelle Sexton
Lisa Michelle Sexton, 43, Red Oak, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at the home of her mother.
She was born June 9, 1964, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to David L. and Betty J. (Blankenship) Dyslinger. She attended Miller High School and was a 1982 graduate of Jackson High School in Jackson.
She was employed by Mickey Owen Baseball School, Miller; McCune Brooks Hospital, Carthage; and for 10 years as a cook for the Miller Middle School. she was currently employed as kitchen supervisor at the Missouri Veterans' Home/Mt. Vernon.
She married Sidney James Sexton April 23, 1983, in Miller. He Survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Nathan Sexton, Red Oak, and Jamie Sexton, Miller; her father, David Dysinger, Jackson; her mother, Betty J. Ashton, and stepfather Al Ashton, both of Jasper; two brothers, Jeffrey Dysinger, Minneapolis, Minn., and Matthew Dysinger, Carthage; two sisters, Rebecca Kimbel and Jennifer Miller, both of Jackson; tow stepbrothers, Keith Ashton, Dadeville, and Kenneth Ashton, Clarksville, Tenn; two stepsisters, Kimberly Evans, Willard, and Kathy Tobin, Virginia Beach, Va.; her maternal grandmother, Nellie F. Blankenship, Carthage; and four grandchildren.
Services were Thursday, Sept. 27, in Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller, with Chaplain Danny Mullins officiating. Burial was in Sycamore Cemetery.

Charlotte "Sue" Schmidt


Charlotte “Sue” Schmidt, 69, Verona, died Thursday, April 19, 2007, in her home. She was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Aurora to Oliver and Louisa Springer Hubbard. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald “Pete” Schmidt, two daughters, Susan Johnson and husband Rick Bentonville, Ark., and Jenny Parker and husband Greg, Aurora; two brothers, Bill Hubbard, Aurora, and Sidney Hubbard, Houston, Texas; three sisters, Helen Murphy, Marionville, Betty Young, Memphis, Tenn., and Bonnie Owens, Aurora; and five grandchildren, Alisha, Brooke and Bailey Johnson and Logan and Olivia Parker.
Services were Saturday, April 21, in the Aurora First Baptist Church. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, under the direction of Peterson Funeral Chapel, Aurora.

Edward Peter Schmidt
Edward Peter Schmidt of Aurora, Mo., formerly of Spokane, Wash., passed away at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Missouri Veterans' Home in Mt. Vernon, Mo.
He was born Nov. 28, 1932, in Spokane to Carl and Rosella Schmidt. He served in the Air Force, retiring in 1970 to begin a career with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, which lasted 22 years. After retiring for a second time, he and his high school sweetheart and wife, Shirley, traveled for several years. He loved to metal detect, travel, fish and enjoy life. While traveling they visited all 50 states before settling in Shelton, Wash. They moved ot Missouri in 2004.
Mr. Schmidt was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson Maurice Shelin.
Those surviving him include his wife, Shirley Schmidt, Aurora; two sisters, Luella Kangus and Shirley Ann Schmidt, both of Spokane; two daughters, Debra Corey, Yakima, Wash., and Ramona Klewena, Chateroy, Wash.; two stepsons, Terry Schelin, Spokane, and Alan Schelin, Riverside, Calif; a special son, Curt and Adele Bolser, Olympia, Wash.; 11 grandchldren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, including Jeannine and Rick Wilson of Verona, Ashley and David Romine of Ozark, Angela and Kevin Romine of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Heather and Jeff Romine of Mt. Vernon; and friends all over the country.
The family wishes to thank all of the special people at the Missouri Veterans' Home/Mt. Vernon, who made Ed's last year one full of love and friendship. A special thank you to our friends at Seasons Hospice, who were so caring and comforting. You all will always be in our hearts. You were all very special.

Max Laverne Schnake
Max Laverne Schnake, 76, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2009, in the Select Speciality Hospital in Springfield. He was born Oct. 19, 1932, in Mt. Vernon, the son of L.H. and Golden (Garner) Schnake.
Max lived in the Mt. Vernon Community his entire life. He was a 1951 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict, a member of the Miller Lions Club, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon.
On April 22, 1956, he married Gladys Mayberry in Mt. Vernon. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1977.
Max was employed with Carnation Milk Company, then Mid-Am Dairy, as a purchasing agent. He retired in 1992.
Max enjoyed his family, his cattle, visting with people, singing and playing music. He often said, "I've never met a stranger I didn't like.
For 31 years, he provided the community with melons, fruits and vegetables in the summer and was referred to as the "Watermelon Man." He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed.
Survivors include his daughter, Cindy Supiran and her husband, Ernie, of Webb City; fiancee' and best friend Wanda Bulow of Springfield; grandchildren Courtney Winn and her husband, Chris, of Springfield, Carrie Faucett of Bentonville, Ark., and Brian Faucett of Springfield; great-grandchildren Owen and Avery Winn of Springfield; two brothers, Wayne Schnake and his wife, Esther, of Stotts City and Robert Schnake and his wife, Debbie, of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Wilma Kennedy of Cassville; and several nieces and nephews. His parents and brother Ivan and Donnie Schnake also preceded him in death.
A funeral service, under direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, was Monday, June 15, in First Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon, with burial in the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.

He was born July 9, 1939, in Aurora to Forrest and Mary Stuart Schnelle. He was a retired machinist.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie: three sons, Michael Schnelle, Grain Valley, Randy Schnelle, Aurora, and Gabe Schnelle, Freeman; two brothers, Mike Schnelle, Tulsa, and Steve Schnelle, Aurora; and seven grandchildren.
Services were Friday, Aug. 28, in the Marionville First Baptist Church, under direction of Peterson Funeral Chapel, Aurora. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.
John Keeton Sehnert Sr.
John Keeton Sehnert Sr., 69, Sarcoxie, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center, Sarcoxie.
He was born Dec. 21, 1940, in Mt. Vernon to John H. and Ada E. (Keeton) Sehnert. He was raised in Stotts City and Sarcoxie. He was a 1958 graduate of Sarcoxie High School. He attended Joplin Junior College and graduated from Pittsburg State University with a master's degree in music. He taught music in Humboldt, Kan., Sarcoxie, Diamond and Wheaton. In 1971, he went to work for Wilbert Vault in Sarcoxie. He was a member of the Sarcoxie Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star. He was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardith Sehnert; his parents; one daughter, Mariellen Ellifrits; and one grandaughter.
Survivors include one son, John K. Sehnert Jr., Sarcoxie; one step-brother, Samuel Ireland, Reston, Va.; and three grandchildren.
Private family burial was in Goss Cemetery, northwest of Mt. Vernon, under direction of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, Sarcoxie.
Sharon Loraine "Honey" Shearhart
Sharon Loraine "Honey" Shearhart, 69, Aurora, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at St. John's Hospital, Aurora.
She was born May 2, 1940, in Kansas City, the daughter of Raymond Louis and Vera (Mansfield) Spradley.
"Honey" as Sharon was affectionately known by her loved ones, moved to Aurora from Upland,Calif., in 1996. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #126 in Aurora. Lady's Hospital Auxiliary, and was a 30-plus year member of the Rebekah Lodge of IOOF in California.
On Aug. 26, 1972, she married Richard Dean Shearhart in Las Vegas, Nev., and he survives her of the home.
Additional survivors include her daughter, Debra Shaw and her husband, Tim, of Kilgore, Texas; three grandchilren, Michael Miller and his wife, Tina, of Mansfield, Texas, Kimberly Neff and her husband, William, of Aurora, and Matthew Wilson and his wife, Chelsea, of Las Vegas, Nev.; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Wyatt, Briana, Emily and Alli; one nephew, Steven Spradley and his wife, Tina, and his mother-in-law, Stella, of Aurora; two brothers-in-law, and their families, Curtis and Barbara Shearhart of Springfield, Larry and Shirley Shearhart of Rohnert Park, Calif.; and several other nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Her parents, brother, Richard Spradley, and sister, Shirley Jones, preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held for Sharon at the American Legion Post #126 in Aurora at a later date. Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora, conducted local arrangements.

Walter Edward "John" Shearon Jr., 84, Marionville, died Monday, July 2, 2007, in Henry Medical Center, Stockbridge, GA
He was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Old Hickory, Tenn., to Walter Edward and Evelyn (Holt) Shearon.
He served in the United States Army during World War II as a military policeman. He attended Hurley Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; one daughter, Cynthia Marie Sinclair; and two sisters, Mary Nelle Lee and Billie Ruth Roberts.
Survivors include his wife, Julie (Winfree) Shearon; one daughter, Cheri Stone, Des Moines, Iowa; three stepchildren, Dillon, Lori and Andrew; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, July 7, in Hurley Baptist Church, Hurley, with Pastors Larry Winfree and Jeff Holden officiating, under direction of Meadors Funeral Home. Clever. Burial, with military honors, was in Union Ridge Cemetery, Clever.

Glenn Richard Shoemaker


Glenn Richard Shoemaker, 67, Aurora, died Tuesday, Aug 7, 2007, near De Queen, Ark.
He was born Sept. 2, 1939, in Barry County to William Harold and Ava (Carpenter) Shoemaker.
He married Clara Nell Robbins Feb. 21, 1958, in Aurora. she survives.
He was a transporter for Mayse Automotive and a member of the Aurora Church of Christ.
Additional survivors include two sons, Stephen and Richard Shoemaker, both of aurora; two daughters, Lori Gregory and Julie Henson, both of Aurora; three brothers, Billy Shoemaker, Houston, Texas, J.D. Shoemaker, Springfield, and Gary Shoemaker, Aurora; two sisters, Marie Ragain, Verona, and Regina Eicher, Mexico; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Charles, Dale, Jim and Robert.
Services were Friday, Aug. 10, in the Aurora Church of Christ, with Cecil Harris and Eddie Bowman officiating. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

The Rev. William B. (Bill) Skelton
The Rev. William B. (Bill) Skelton, 86, Marionville, died at 11:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at a nursing home, following a short illness.
He was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Bloomfield to Clarence A. and Bessie M. (Chasteen) Skelton.
He was a longtime area resident. he was a Baptist preacher and ministered for more than 50 years at various congregations, including High Point Baptist Church in Windsor, Harmony Baptist Church in Leeton, Newtonia Baptist Church in Newtonia, Buck Prairie Baptist Church in Marionville, and Enon Baptist Church in Enon. At the time of his death, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Marionville. He was also an elementary school math teacher for 23 years. He had a bachelor's degree in education from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. He attended seminary training at Walnut Ridge, Ark., and Central Seminary in Kansas City.
During World War II, he served int he United States Army infantry as a first lieutenant in the Philippines.
He married Anna Lorene Gilley Dec. 20, 1942. She died Dec. 20, 2003.
He was also receded in death by two brothers, James Aubrey Skelton and Samuel Ray Skelton.
Survivors include three children, Deborah Miller, Marionville, Ray D. Skelton, Seneca, and Thomas Skelton, Goodson; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Clark Funeral Chapel, Granby/East Newton, with Pastor Lee Miller officiating. Burial was in Newtonia IOOF Cemetery.

Joy Slane, 23, Aurora, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born Dec. 8, 1985, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Charles and Dixie Calkins Slane.
Survivors include her parents and grandmother, Margarete Slane.
Services were Monday, Aug. 31, in the Marionville Assembly of God Church, under direction of Peterson Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial was in Brookline Cemetery.
David Martin Smith
David Martin Smith, 39, Sarcoxie, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, which also claimed his wife and son.
He was born Aug. 5, 1970, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Theordore Martin and Carolyn Irene (Spohn) Smith. He lived in California and Texas before moving to Barry County in 1993. He had been employed by Hydro Aluminum in Monett for the past 17 years. He married Sharon Rose Gray Nov. 11, 2006.
Survivors include two sons, Christian Smith and Jonathan Smith, both of Sarcoxie; two stepdaughters, Christina Bardell, Wichita, Kan., and Rebeccah Gray, Franklin, N.C.; two stepsons, Samuel Gray and Jared Gray, both of Idaho; his parents Carolyn Smith, Aurora, and Theordore Martin Smith, Ohio; one brother, Joseph Daniel Smith, San Antonio, Texas; three stepsisters, Debbie Smith and Connie Smith, both of California, and Veronica Mann, Ohio; maternal grandmother Velma Spohn, Aurora; and three grandchildren.

Edward A. Smith, 43, Aurora. died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, in St. John's Aurora.
He was born July 12, 1964, in Seattle, Wash., to Howard and Ruth Baker Smith. He was a technician for a window manufacturing company in Monett.
Survivors include his parents, Howard and Ruth Smith; one brother, Tony Rinker, Stockton; and two sisters, Trudy Blankenship, Aurora, and Pam Chastain, Memphis, Tenn.

Sharon Rose Smith, 49, Sarcoxie, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident which also claimed her husband and stepson.
She was born July 3, 1960, in Watervliet, Mich., to Elizabeth Loos and Donald Joe Ragle. She spent most of her life in Michigan and Indiana, before moving to Missouri in 2002. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the River of Life Church in Sarcoxie and veteran of the United States Army.
She married David Martin Smith Nov. 11, 2006.
Survivors include two daughters, Christina Bardell, Wichita, Kan., and Rebeccah Gray, Franklin, N.C.; two sons, Samuel Gray and Jared Gray, both of Idaho; two stepsons, Christian and Jonathan Smith, both of Sarcoxie; her mother, Elizabeth Lamphier, Appleton City; two sisters, Debbie Nickleson, England, and Rosita Mealan, Appleton City; one brother, Donald Joe Ragle Jr., Hartford, Mich.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Joe Ragle.
Services were Saturday, Jan. 23, at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, Sarcoxie, with Pastor Sherman Burruss officiating. Graveside services were Monday, Jan. 25, at the Missorui Veterans' Cemetery, Springfield.

Zachary Elijah Smith, 8, Sarcoxie, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at St. John's Joplin, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident which also claimed his father and stepmother.
He was in the second grade at Wildwood Elementary School, Sarcoxie.
He was born July 3, 2001, in Springfield to David Martin Smith and Melanie S. (LaTourette) Garrett.
Survivors include his mother, Melanie Garrett and husband Warren, of Exira, Iowa; one sister, Jasmine Templeton, Alma; two brothers, Christian Smith and Jonathan Smith, both of Sarcoxie; maternal grandparents Vickie LaTourette, Idaho City, Idaho, William LaTourette, Spring, Texas, and Donald and Janice Hill, Green Ridge; paternal grandparents Carolyn Smith, Aurora, and Theodore Martin Smith, Ohio; maternal great-grandmother Helen Orchid, Riverside, Calif.; and paternal great-grandmother Velma Spohn, Aurora.
Services were Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, Sarcoxie, with Pastor Sherman Burruss officiating. Graveside services were Tuesday at Hickory Point Baptist Church Cemetery, Green Ridge, with the Rev. Donald Hill officiating.
Christopher Douglas "Chris" Snider
Christopher Douglas "Chris" Snider, 50, Aurora, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, in Cox South, Springfield.
He was born Nov. 11, 1956, in Aurora to Charles Dell and Shirlene Grace (Gregory) Snider.
He lived in the Aurora community his entire life and was a 1975 graduate of Aurora High School. He worked as a medical technician for Hudson House Nursing Home and was of the Assembly of God faith.
There are no immediate survivors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Chuck and Greg.
Graveside services were Saturday, June 30, in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

Virginia Ruth (Fink) Soole


Virginia Ruth (Fink) Soole, 51, Verona, died at 8:23 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007, in the Lawrence County Manor, Mt. Vernon.
She was born Feb. 11, 1956, in Gravette, Ark., to Ivan and Mary Ellen (Killingsworth) Fink. She was a nurse’s aide at the Lawrence County Manor and a member of the Aurora Bible Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Angela Jackson, Verona, three sons, Michel Forerester, Aurora, Christopher Fleetwood and Eri Jackson, both of Verona; one brother Raymond Wood, California; and one sister, Van Ellen Patrick, Phoenix, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Faye Fink.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, in Lanagan Cemetery, Lanagan, under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

Knial Rickman Soutee, 59, Marionville, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009.
He was owner of Knial R. Soutee CPA Firm in Marionville. He was a member of the Marionville First United Methodist Church, served on the advisory board of Millwood Golf and Racquet Club and was a supporter of the Marionville schools.
Survivors include one son, Matt Soutee, Springfield; his father and his wife, Dale and Dixie Soutee, Marionville; and two brothers, Steve Soutee, Purdy, and Tom Soutee, Marionville.
Services were Saturday, March 14, in the Crane First Baptist Church in Crane. Burial was in the Marionville IOOF Cemetery, under the direction of Williams Funeral Home, Marionville.

Mary "Earlene" Spandle
Mary "Earlene" Spandle, 85, Marionville, formerly of Kansas City, Kan., died at 11:43 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, in Aurora, Nursing Center.
She was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Deer Trail, Colo., to Henry Eugene and Lois Blanche (Frank) Rabe.
She lived in Kansas City, Kan., most of her life. She moved to the Lawrence County community to be near family in 2004. She retired from RCA as an executive secretary, was a member of the Kansas City Chapter of the Eastern Star and was of the Methodist faith.
She married Louis B. Spandle, in Kansas City, Kan. He died July 6, 1990. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Harold E. Rabe, and one sister, Donna Brown.
Local survivors include one sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Venable, Aurora.
Graveside services were Thursday, Aug 30, in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan., under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

Julie Lynn Spears, 44, Aurora, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
She was born May 25, 1964, in Aurora to Donald C. and Lucille M. (Barnett) White. Survivors include one son, Carson Alan Spears, Marionville; her parents, Donald C. and Lucille White, Marionville, and one sister, Donnita Jones, Sachse, Texas.
Services were Tuesday, Feb. 3, in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Marionville IOOF Cemetery.

John Parker Spencer Sr., 74, Stotts City, died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the Lawrence County Manor, Mt. Vernon. He was born March 2, 1935, to Basil and Christine (Williams) Spencer. He was a cattle farmer and a member of the first Baptist Church in Stotts City. Survivors include one daughter, Becky Spencer, one son, John Spencer Jr., and one brother, Dale Spencer, all of Stotts City; and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Union Cemetery, Stotts City, with the Rev. Bob Holman officiating, under direction of Lakin Funeral Home, Stotts City. Jack Reid Stanley

Jack Reid Stanley, 62, Marionville, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, in Cox South. He was born April 23, 1945, in Spartanburg, S.C., to Nichols and Vera (Gossett) Abbott. He was raised by his mother and adoptive father, Howard Stanley. He was a 1963 graduate of Marionville High School and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1968. He married Frankie Louis Taylor Sept. 3, 1967, in Shell Knob. He worked for Mitchell Energy as a petroleum geologist, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Springfield Camera Club. Survivors include his wife, Frankie; two sons, Steven, Sammamish, Wash., and Patrick, Denver, Colo.; four sisters, Carol Lewellen, Mountain Home, Ark., Linda Jatko, Murfreesboro, N.C. Claudena Kramek, Bloomfield, N.J., and Paricia Narducci, Brick N.J.; one brother, Reggie Abbot, Bloomfield, N.J.; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and adoptive father. Visitation was Monday, Dec. 3, in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Private family burial will be at a later date. Billie Carl St. Clair, 77, Aurora, formerly of St. Peters, died at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at her residence. She was born May 16, 1932, in Rome, Ark., to Turner and Willie (White) Carsten.
She was a sales clerk for Target Stores. She married Charles C. St. Clair in March of 1950 in Branson. He died Oct. 15, 1978.
Survivors include three sons, Terry St. Clair, Jerry St. Clair and Larry St. Clair, all of St.Charles; one sister, Laverne Rosencrans, Aurora; one brother, James Carsten, Mccleansboro, Ill.; six grandchildren;and eight great-grandchildren.

Joanna Lynn Stearns, 59, Freistatt, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Cox South, Springfield.
She was born May 19, 1950, in Granby to Wilber Claude and the late Evelyn (Nunn) Claude.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Stearns, Dec. 3, 1990.
Survivors include two daughters, Cari L. Keith Hamilton Stephens Jr.


Keith Hamilton Stephens Jr., 49, Monett, died at 9:20 a.m. Monday, May 28, 2007.
He was born Nov. 3, 1957, in Atlantic City, N.J., to Keith Hamilton Sr., and Mary Jan (Minchella) Stephens. He received his associate’s degree from Crowder College and was employed by EFCO Window Manufacturing Company. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Keith Sr. and Lola Stephens, Mt. Vernon; one brother, Mark Stephens, Aurora,; one half-brother, Jon Stephens, Mt. Vernon; two stepbrothers, Ronnie King, Monett, and Rick King, Fremont, Calif. His mother preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, in Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home Chapel, Mt. Vernon. Burial will be in the Monett IOOF Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 31, in the funeral home.

Harry Douglas “Doug” Stevens, 73, Aurora, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, after a short illness.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Karen; eight children, Pete Ebright, Kevin Stevens, Harilene Williams, Robin Layton, Kent Stevens, Tracy Menter, Kirk Stevens and Troy Stevens; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, in Curtis Chapel, between Billings and McKinley.

Clarabelle Marbut Carlisle Stewart
Clarabelle Stewart, 95, Aurora, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at Hudson House Residential Care Facility, Aurora.
She was born Sept. 3, 1914, in Eldridge to John and Victoria (Hopper) Roberts.
She was a 1931 graduate of Aurora High School, was a member of the First Christian Church, the Moonflower Garden Club, the Eastern Star Chapter #202 and worked at Vaisey Bristol Shoe Factory.
Survivors include stepchildren Joe Carlisle, Kansas City, Kenneth Stewart, Springfield, Robert Stewart, Vancouver, Wash., and Bill Stewart and Mary Chittendon of Des Moines, Iowa; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great grandchildren; and 11 step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Seth "Bob" Marbut; one brother, Joe Woodruff; and her husbands, Julian Marbut, Joseph Carlisle and William Stewart.
Services were Saturday, Sept. 12, at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.

Ruth Elaine Stewart Still
Ruth Elaine Stewart Still, 78, Monett, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, in The Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville. She was born Dec. 9, 1931, in Wheaton to James and Lula (Haynes) Paul. She married Jack Stewart Jr. He died in September 1993. She later married Leonard Still. He also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Franklin and Bradley Stewart; and two brothers, Edward and Dewey Paul.
She grew up in Wheaton. She and Jack moved to California for a while, then returned to the Ozarks. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of Chapel fo the Ozarks in Rocky Comfort, where she sang in a Quartet.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Stewart, Monett, and David Stewart, Fallon, Nev.; four brothers, Ronnie Paul and Danny Paul, both of Harrison, Ark., Jim Paul, Stockton, Calif., and Jackie Paul, Dallas, Ore.; two sisters, Reta Oneta, Stockton, Calif., and Faye Parker, Shell Knob; a special sister, Bonnie Stewart, Marionville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, April 20, in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton, with the Rev. Joe Wogoman officiating. Burial was in Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton.

William Edwin Stolper, 91, Marionville, died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, in St. John’s Springfield.
He was born Jan. 23, 1915, in Kansas City to William Adam and Bessie Lee Lintner Stopler.
He married Mary Jane McKeever Nov. 6, 1938.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a retired postal clerk.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Lanigan and a granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; two daughters, Carla Bock, Lenexa, Kan., and Marta Meier, Independence; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, Jan. 23, in the Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville, under the direction of Williams Funeral Home, Marionville. His ashes will be buried in the Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City.
Thurman L. Stone
Thurman L. Stone, 88, Marionville, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in the Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville.
He was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Humansville to J.D. and Nellie (Zerkel) Stone.
He served four and a half years in the United States Army during World War II. He received his education specialist's degree from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. He taught industrial arts and was head of the department at Lee's Summit High School from 1952 to 1980. He was a member of the Marionville First United Methodist Church.
Surviovrs include his wife, Donna; one son, Jon Stone, Arlington, Texas; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 11, in Memorial Hall Chapel at Ozarks Methodist Manor, under direction of Murray Funeral Home, Bolivar. The body has been cremated.
Esther M. Strong
Esther M. Strong, 90, Pierce City, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at an area nursing home.
She was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Yuma, Colo., to John and Effie (Raleigh) Slagle.
She was a longtime resident of Pierce City and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Pete" Strong in 2001, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include one son, Henry Strong, Pierce City; two daughters, Carlene Denny, Joplin, and Marilyn Donica, Anderson; three sisters, Maxine Crider, Exeter, and Lucille Lawson and Mildred Lester, both of Shelton, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Friday, Jan. 22, at VanBuren Cemetery, Pierce City, with David Johnson officiating.
Lowell R. Stubblefield
Lowell R. Stubblefield, 86, Aurora, Aurora, died at 10:31 a.m. Wednesday, June, 27, 2007, at St. John's, Springfield.
He was born April 13, 1921, in Mano to Claude and E. Jayne (Varner) Stubblefield.
He moved to Aurora in 1945. He retired as a mail handler for the U.S. Post Office after 31 years, and was a member of the First Christian Church, Aurora.
He married Newcum April 24, 1942, in Exeter. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Gary Stubblefield, Springfield, and Dennis Stubblefield, Aurora; one sister, Delores Pennel, Joplin; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gale Lyn; one sister, Agnes Fairchild; and three brothers, Verdayne, Lyle and Leland.
Services were Saturday, June 30, in Crafton Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.

E.B. "Junior" Sumners Jr.
E.B. "Junior" Sumners Jr., 83, Aurora, died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at his home.
He was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Aurora to Euel B. and Delia Hammond Sumners Sr. He lived in the Aurora community his entire life and graduated from Aurora High School in 1944. He was a lifelong cattleman and farmer. He was the owner of National Commission Company at the Union Stockyards in Springfield for 47 years, was a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine, a 50-plus year member of United Commercial Travelers (UCT), a charter member of the Aurora Rural Fire Department, served on the board for the Bank of Billings and what was formerly Charter Bank in Aurora and served on the Lawrence County Planning Commission.
He married Sammie Edel Roach June 1, 1947, in Aurora. She died June 13, 2007.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Stanley, Raeford, N.C., and Aurora; one son, Pete Sumners,Aurora; one brother William R. Sumners, Greenville, Pa.; four grandchildrfen; and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial services were Saturday, Dec. 5, at the First Christian Church, Aurora. Private burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

Sammie Edel Sumners
Sammie Edel Sumners, 79, Aurora, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, from injuries sustained in a car accident on Business 60 and Highway 60, Aurora.
She was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Aurora to William Howard and Edel (Grammer) Roach.
She lived in the Aurora community her entire life. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1945 and was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Aurora. She worked at the Aurora Grocer Company with her dad when she was young, and after graduating from Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State University) she was a substitute teacher in the Aurora school district for more than 20 years. She worked as a secretary for the Springfield National Livestock Commission Company. She was choir director for the First Christian Church, a member of Eastern Star and past Worthy Matron, and a member of P.E.O.
She married E.B. "Junior" Sumners June 1, 1947. He survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Debbie Stanley, Raeford, N.C.; one son, Pete Sumners, Aurora; one sister, Wilma Towers, Springfield; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by one brother, William H. Roach; one sister, Martha Helen Roach.
Memorial services were Sunday, June 17, in First Christian Church, Aurora, under direction of Crafton-Canrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

Kevin John Suneson, 45, Marionville, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, in his home.
He was born March 23, 1964, in Riverside, Calif., to Leighton Merle and Alice Joy Powell Suneson.
He was a 1982 graduate of Marionville High School and was a truck driver, restaurant manager and cook.
He married Jodie White July 4, 1986.
He was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Valarie Suneson; and one brother, Timothy Suneson.
Survivors include two sons, Grady Suneson, Marionville and Andrew Suneson, Joplin; one daughter, Jennifer Rust, Virginia Beach, Va.; his mother, Alice Suneson, Greenwood, Ark.; six brothers, Lynn Suneson, Indio, Calif., Jeff Suneson, Nurrietta, Calif., Scott Suneson, Manassas, Va., Craig Suneson, Little Rock, Ark., Chris Suneson, Bella Vista, Ark., and Rob Suneson, Marionville; and two sisters, Cindy Domingos, Riverside, Calif., and Denise Wilson, Springfield.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in Williams Funeral Home Chapel, Marionville, with the Rev. Lee Miller officiating.

Grace N. Surls, 75, Hoberg, died Monday, March 29, 2010, in St. John's Springfield. She was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Arkansas to Sarah Jane Kelly and John Allread. She married Dean Surls in 1989 in Battlefield. He survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Johnny Allen; Miller, Larry Allen, Republic, and Jerry Allen, Springfield; two daughters, Linda Beeson, Miller, and Kathy Helms, Bolivar; one brother, Robert Allread, Cassville; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson.
