Theodore Martin Tanner
Theodore Martin Tanner, 84, Aurora, MO, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at the Aurora Nursing Center.
He was born July 16, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., to Theodore and Alfhilda (Larsen) Tanner. He was a World War II United States Navy veteran and also served in the Marine Reserves. He also formed the first police comminssion in Addison, Ill.
He married Mary Alice McDaniel Aug. s5, 1951, in Harrisburg, Ill. She survives.
He and his wife owned and operated a decorating store in Addison, retiring in 2000.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Julia Culver, Susan Carlson and Laurie Larson; one son, Theodore Murray Tanner; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Johanna.
Graveside services, with full military honors, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.
Bret Alan Taylor
Bret Alan Taylor, 49, Miller, MO, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, in his residence.
He was born April 7, 1958, in San Fernando, Calif., to J.W. and Betty Lee (Snow) Taylor. He was a 1976 graduate of Miller High School. He was a body builder, having owned his own health club, worked for the department of revenue, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Air Borne Express, both in Springfield and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Alan Taylor and Colton Jay Taylor, both of Mt. Vernon, one brother, Rick Taylor, Miller; two grandchildren; and his fiancee, Sheila Benson, Miller.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, in Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon. Burial will be in Miesmer Cemetery, east of Miller.
J.W. Taylor
J.W. Taylor, 80, Miller, MO, died at 9:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, in cox South, Springfield.
He was born Sept. 12, 1927, at Cherry Mansion, north of Mt. Vernon, to A.C. and Josephine A. (Hackworth) Taylor.
He worked as a construction operating engineer and was an equipment operator for Lawrence County Road District. He also served as a reserve officer for Lawrence County Sheriff's Office. He was a United States Army veteran and attended Faith Worship Center.
He married Betty Lee (Snow) Taylor Oct. 14, 1951, in Rogers, Ark. She died Sept. 3, 2000.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Genevieve Taylor.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Taylor, Miller, and Brett Taylor, Mt. Vernon; one sister, Kay Perriman, Miller; and three brothers, Bill and Bob Taylor, both of Miller, and Brad Taylor, Cle Elum, Wash.
Services were Monday, Nov. 12 in Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon. Burial was in Misemer Cemetery, east of Miller.
Logie A. Teague


Logie A. Teague - 91, Marionville, MO, Died Saturday Nov. 15, 2008.
She was born April 1, 1917, to Nathan and Sarah Slaughter. She was a longtime beautician in Marionville and Crane.
She and her husband, Howard lived in Clever prior to his death.
She had lived the last few years at the Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Finis Stelle, three sisters, two brothers, three half-sisters and a grandson.
Survivors include one son, Chester Steele, Highlandville; one daughter, Sharon Cannedy, Clever; three brothers, Zeb, Dwight and Guy Slaughter: three sisters, Alice Pearce, Opallean Taylor and Myrtle Lee Rice, three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Services were Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with Chaplain Jack Betts officiating. Burial was in Smart Cemetery, Between Clever and Billings.



Odette Carol Terry

Odette Carol Terry, 40, Verona, MO, died Saturday April 14, 2007, at Cox Monett.
She was born June 4, 1966, in Seminole, Okla., to Darrell and Betty Evetta Park Jones. She was a homemaker.
She married Sean Terry April 18, 1997, in Fayetteville, Ark, he survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Jewell Hillard, Verona, one son, Kevin King Jr., Fayetteville; one sister Amberlynn Ellis, Fort Riley, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
Memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network.



Artie Z. Thompson
Artie Z. Thompson, 95, Marionville, MO, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at the Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville. She worked from her home drapery shop for many years after retiring from Vaisey-Bristol Shoes in 1974. She was born Feb. 5, 1912, in Omaha, Ark., to William and Pearl (Hammonds) Talley. She was a member of the Marionville First Christian Church, the Leona Rebekah Lodge and Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.E. (Judge) Thompson; one son, Bobby Gene Thompson; four brothers, Virgil, Cleo, Charley and Eddie; one sister, Hayward. Survivors include one daughter, Lois Logan, Marionville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were Tuesday, Aug. 28, in Williams Funeral Home, Marionville.
Marjorie "Ilene" Thurman
Marjorie "Ilene" Thurman, 78, Aurora, MO, passed away peacefully at 12 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at St. John's Hospital, Aurora, surrounded by her family. Ilene was born April 6, 1929, in Jenkins to Admiral Dewey and Carrie (Bolin) Eubanks. She worked for Dr. T.A. Morrison for many years before retiring from the Aurora Community Hospital after 26 years of service. Ilene was a talented seamstress and enjoyed spending her free time playing cards with her friends and spending time with her family. She was a member of Aurora Church of Christ. On Aug. 17, 1945, she married Jack Richard Thurman. He died Feb. 19, 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Lorene (Eubanks) Friend, three brothers, Orville Eugene Eubanks, Jack W. Eubanks and Ray Loy Eubanks, and her son-in-law, David Walker. She will be greatly missed by her brother, Nichols James (N.J.) Eubanks and wife Dianne; son Richard Thurman and wife Diana; daughter Tonwya Walker; granddaughters, Summer Collier and husband Thomas, and Hollie Rathmann; great-grandson Cole David Collier; and a host of friends. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the Aurora Church of Christ, under direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Aurora Church of Christ or the building fund of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon.
Patricia Todd
Patricia Todd, 70, Vernona, MO, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at St. John's Springfield. She was born July 1, 1939, to Eugene Calhoon and Mary Schaffer of West Plains. She married Vann Todd April 7, 1972. He survives. She graduated from Colorado Springs, Colo., business college in January 1987. Additional survivors include one son, Brett Walters, and one daughter, Linda Carr, both of Verona; her mother, Mary Calhoon; one sister, Ruth Collins, Dora; one brother, Orville Dean Calhoon, Lawrence, Kan,; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Dick Calhoon. Services were Friday, Aug. 7, at the Verona Baptist Church with Pastor Lendall Morris officiating, under direction of Peterson Funeral Home, Aurora.
Donald A. Tollison
Donald A. Tollison, 58, Marionville, MO, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Ozarks Methodist Manor, Marionville. He was born Oct. 24, 1949, in Florence, Ariz., to Jack and Elizabeth Tollison. He was a Vietnam veteran and a member of Assembly of God, Billings. Survivors include his wife, Linda Tollison; two sons, Donnie Tollison and Eddie Popovits; four daughters, Brandy Tollison, Michelle Holmes, Vickie Tollison and Teddie Keithley; 4-year-old Hannah Marie Tollison; one brother, Ronnie; and two sisters, Louise and Diane; and 11 grandchildren. Services were Thursday, Dec. 20, at Greenlawn East, Springfield. Burial was in the Missouri Veterans' Cemetery, Springfield.
John Charles Torbett


John Charles Torbett, 89, Aurora, MO, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Aurora Nursing Center.
He was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Stone County to Jesse and Ursala Torbett.
He was a plumber and heating and air man.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; four sons, J. Phillip Torbett, Mt. Vernon, Roger Brent Torbett, San Diego, Calif., Bob Torbett, Aurora, and Jim Torbett, Marionville; one brother Fritz Torbett, Aurora; one sister, Evelyn Rahn, Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
No services are planned.

Ella Mae Tunnell

Ella Mae Tunnell, 73, Aurora, MO, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007, in the Monett Health Care Center.
She was born Aug. 20, 1933 in Aurora, MO to Guy “Doc” and Dorothy (Boraker) Tunnell.
She lived in the Lawrence County community her entire life and attended the Faith Full Gospel Church and the Baptist Temple.
Survivors include one brother, William “Boots” Tunnell, Mt. Vernon.
She donated her body to science. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday May 20, at Faith Full Gospel Church, Aurora, with Robert Allman officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora.

Lester Paul Turner
Lester Paul turner, 66, Sarcoxie, MO, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at St. John's, Joplin.
Private services will be at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Midland cremation society, Joplin.
