These Obituaries are reprinted from The Lawrence County Record, which is Mt. Vernon, MO hometown newspaper. The newspaper, published once a week includes the weekly deaths of Lawrence County residents & their families. In an effort to maintain Mt. Vernon, MO Genealogy I have only reprinted the Mt. Vernon Deaths. I will list these alphabetically and I will add to these on a regular basis so be sure to check back often.

Hazel Pearl Keiser
Hazel Pearl Keiser, 71, Mt. Vernon, died at 4:10 p.m. Friday July 20, 2007, in St. John’s Aurora.
She was born Sept. 22, 1935 in Kansas City to Thomas Turman and Doris Trenna (Bingham) Mason. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Susanne Catholic Church, Mt. Vernon.
She married Russell Joseph Keiser in Kansas City Oct. 4, 1953. He died Sept. 25, 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Bishop, Neosho, and Mary Jane McKinley, Noel; three sons, William Keiser, Mt. Vernon, Russell Keiser Jr., Joplin, and John Keiser, Cassville; two stepsons, David Keiser, Independence, and Harold Keiser, Napoleon; one brother, Thomas Mason II, Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Trenna Keiser.
Services were Tuesday, July 24, in Fossett-Mosher Fuenral Home, Mt. Vernon, with Father Pat Teter officiating. Burial was in Mt. Vernon City Cemetery.

Talbert Cooper Kelley Jr.
Talbert Cooper Kelley Jr., 65, Mt. Vernon, formerly of Memphis, Tenn, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Missouri Veterans' Home/Mt. Vernon. He was born June 28, 1944, in Memphis Tenn., to Talbert and Ruby Kelley. He was raised by his grandparents, Boonie and Albert Kelley, Memphis. He was preceded in death in 1998 by his wife of 29 years. Donnie Beard Kelley. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mike Kelley.
Survivors include two sisters, Pat White, Springfield, and Nancy Cothern, Memphis.
He graduated from Memphis State University and was the coordinator for many chairty tennis tournaments in memory of his brother. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1967 to 1973.
Graveside services, with full military honors, were Tuesday, April 13, at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Memphis, under direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Missouri Veterans' Home/Mt. Vernon, 1600 S. Hickory, Mt. Vernon, MO 65712, or the American Cancer Society.
Karen Kay Kennedy
Karen Kay Kennedy, 49, Mt. Vernon, died at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Mt. Vernon Place Care Center, Mt. Vernon. She was born April 17, 1961, in Windsor to Eldon LeRoy and Geraldine Ruth (Manes) Orr. She was a 1978 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Verona.
Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Kennedy, Joplin; her mother, Geraldine Orr, Mt. Vernon; one sister, Celia Rathmann, Mt. Vernon; and three brothers, LeRoy Orr, Mt. Vernon, Guy Orr, Everton, and Daniel Orr, Aurora. She was preceded in death by her father.
Private graveside services were Thursday, April 8, at Summit Cemetery, with Pastor Danny Burks officiating, under direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or Faith Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.
Robert Sterling Kingsley
Jimmie V. Knobloch
Jimmie V. Knobloch, 90, of King Street, Mt. Vernon, died Sunday, April 25, 2010, in the Corry Memorial Hospital, Corry Pa. She was born in Clovis, N.M., April 19, 1920, a daughter of the late James Landis and Lula Marlin Lish Landis Choeler.
Jimmie was raised and educated in Memphis, Texas, and Lubbock, Texas, where she graduated from high school, then attended Texas Tech University. Following her marriage, she lived in Buffalo, N.Y., where her main priority was raising and caring for her family. In the Late 1970s, she and her husband retired to Mt. Vernon.
She enjoyed refinishing and reupholstering furniture, sewing, quilting, and vegetable and flower gardening. She also liked playing the piano, playing cards and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennett Knobloch, in 1996. They were married in Buffalo, N.Y., June 14, 1946. Jimmie was also preceded in death by a sister, Lula Mae Lund, and two brothers, Coleman and Herman Lish.
She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Horvatits and her husband, Kenneth, of Agua Dulce, Calif.; three sons, Dale Knobloch and his wife, Beverly, of Jefferson, Mass., William Knobloch, Glendale, Ariz., and James Knobloch, Wellsville, N.Y. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation observed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date by the family. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Buffalo, N.Y.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Corry Memorial Hospital, 612 W. Smith St., Corry, Pa. 16407, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bracken Funeral Home, 316 N. Center St., Corry, Pa.
Claude Hart Knoles
Claude Hart Knoles, 85, Mt. Vernon, died at 1 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, in the Missouri Veterans’ Home / Mt. Vernon.
He was born April 16, 1922, in Vandalia, Ill., to Kirby Hart and Martha Ellen (Wilson) Knoles. He was a World War II Army veteran and pilot. He worked for the federal government from 1940 to 1971. He was a cartographic technician for the Engineer Topographic Production Center in Kansas City. He moved to Mt. Vernon in 1979 and was a member of St. Susanne Catholic Church. Mt Vernon.
He married Helen Hunoit Oct. 26, 1946, in Quincy, Ill, She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Claudine Feibusch, El Cerrito, Calif., and Sue Tullier, Bunker; one son, Dr. John Knoles, Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Ralph Knoles, Boulder, Colo.; one sister, Mary Williamson, Pana,Ill.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one great-grandmother.

Andy Alfred Knox
Andy Alfred Knox - Mt. Vernon, 94, formerly of Pineville, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, in the Missouri Veterans’ Home, Mt. Vernon, following an illness.
He was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Salina, Okla., to Oliver Jackson and Della (Conner) Knox. He grew up on a farm north of Pineville in “Dog Hollor”. He graduated as valedictorian from Pineville High School in 1931.
In 1942, he was inducted into the United States Army Air Corps and trained as an airplane electrician specialist. He served in World War II. He attended Pineville First Baptist Church.
He lived in Woodward, Okla., for several years, where he worked as a nurse for Western State Hospital. He retired Aug. 31, 1978.
He married Avis Christian in Woodward. She died in 1989.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Knox and Chester Knox, and one sister, Founty Abercrombie.
Survivors include one stepson, Jesse Christian, New Jersey; and one step-grandson.
Services were Monday, Nov. 5, at the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home Chapel, Anderson, with the Rev. Frank Crosby officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Stella.
Memorial donations may be made to the Missouri Veterans’ Home/Mt. Vernon, in care of the funeral home.
